These batteries are a very good choice for an inexpensive alkaline. Heavy duty batteries, are not cost effective because although cheaper, they have a very short run time. To get the best bang for your buck, go for alkalines like these.

The "Procell" designation is basically Duracell's way of marking these batteries as ones intended for industrial applications. They make them as a separate line so they won't directly compete with their consumer lines.

My experience is that these batteries do not last quite as long as the top consumer lines from Duracell and Energizer. However, they are within 10-20% (depending on the application), and are considerably cheaper. So, they are much more cost effective.

Unless you are using them in an application where it is difficult to change the batteries, I recommend going with these instead of spending more.

I love the pro duracell batteries. I am a video producer and I use these batteries in my wireless mics. They last so much longer than the standard batteries and I've tried them all. For me, they are definitely worth the money.

I haven't used up any of the batteries yet - they seem like ordinary alkaline batteries. What sets these apart is the packaging. The product image shown when I bought it concerned me - it says "4xAAA" but looks way too big for that and the description (and price) said 24 batteries. It turns out the picture is larger than life size - it should be the size of 4 AAA batteries standing side by side. You get 6 paperboard boxes just like the one shown in the picture, all pancaked together in a larger paperboard box measuring 3" x 2" x 1.75". There is no wasted space, no plastic, no cellophane, etc. The packaging wouldn't be good for keeping in a wet location, but it's perfect for keeping a stock of batteries in a drawer. You can easily grab a pack of 4 batteries when you need to use them, or grab a few 4-packs to throw in a bag for a trip. The packaging is easy to open and close. I'm not sure if this is in Amazon's Frustration-Free Packaging program ( [...] ), but it is worthy of that. I wish more products would have such simple, useful packaging.

Fresh dated, had more power on the meter than ones purchased elsewhere three months earlier. Can't beat the price, and quantity needed for so many remotes that require 4-AAA each. Also bought AA and 9volt sizes.

I know of these kind of batteries because when I worked a telemetry floor as a nurse and ICU we used them on the patients' portable monitors. They last long and are great!

Duracell is doing something wrong. Brand new, the batteries have the advertised power, OK.
But, both AAA and AA Alkaline batteries have been leaking. Two out of the 24 AAA's started leaking in the original box before being used. Both were well under the use-by date.

These batteries will leak if used in a low power device - such as a small LED flashlight - and the power switch is left on. You would expect them to go dead if you leave the switch on, but consistently, they start leaking as they die. It gums up battery compartments, and totally ruined several flashlights when the batteries expanded and became frozen inside - unremovable.
They also start leaking as they age, even before they have gone dead. TV remote controls, bicycle LED flashers and similar devices. Most leaked before the use-by date.
Each of the ruined devices was not quite expensive enough to try to get Duracell to replace, and the dirty battery cases that were open enough to remove the batteries from, got cleaned out. But this has happened too many times with AAA and AA Duracells.

After several years of this, I am trying other brands of Alkaline batteries and staying away from Duracell.

I've been using Duracell Procells (sizes AAA, AA, C, and 9V) in pretty much every small, battery powered device I own for about a year now. In that time, I've noticed absolutely no difference between them and standard Duracell Coppertops or Energizers. Wii controllers, LED flashlights, Maglights, wireless mice, digital cameras, etc... there's been no change in the battery life of any of them. In my opinion, they're just as good in every way and an absolute steal for the price.
