DVD Complete's project wizard guides you through the five simple steps that will take your movies from camcorder to DVD disc. Capture video and have it automatically converted to crystal-clear, DVD-quality MPEG-2 video. Add interactive menus with multiple scenes, background audio, and scrolling credits. Choose one theme and have the backgrounds, selection buttons, jewel case inserts, and labels for the DVD disc all automatically updated with the same graphical look and feel. Then just record to a DVD recorder. If you don't have a DVD recorder yet, you can record your movie to a CD using a CD recorder.

DVD Complete lets you go beyond the project wizard to change any aspect of your creation. You can design things from scratch or make minor changes to your current project. The Good: This program is probably the easiest to use and I would recommend it to anyone who is a computer neophyte. It's the fastest way to generate DVD Menus. I especially like how you set the linking of the arrow keys on the remote control; very well done.

The Bad: This program is extremely limited in what you can customize with it. The button thumbnails for the menus are effectively not customizable. Motion menus MUST be generated based on the chapter marker which they link to. The strength of the program relies on the "Wizards", however there is no facility to make your own custom wizard. Also, of course, you have the infamous Dazzle tech support to deal with (which is no better today than when you bought your last Dazzle product. Why the heck did I buy another Dazzle product? I'm too stupid to learn so I deserve what I bought.)

Even Worse: One of the things that iritates me the most of this program is that it takes A LONG TIME to generate the DVD. Most other programs build up the DVD images quite quickly whereas DVD Complete TAKES 1h 35min to build a 2hr DVD, and then however much longer to burn it. I'm not talking about encoding either, this is simply taking the MPEG2 file that I've supplied to DVD Complete and building the DVD image from that. So all together it takes over 2hrs to burn a DVD at 2.4x speed. Not very good folks. Much worse than competing products. You'd never know this by their demo because they limit the demo to only 300MB of video.

This product provides motion menus, overtures, slide shows, complete printing of disc, jacket, etc. and nice templates for the DVD itself. It is rated highly by Cnet and PC Magazine as editor's choices.

On the other hand: Dazzle was just bought by Pinnacle, and all web resources, and support, has been withdrawn. Caveat Emptor, therefore, until it re-appears from another company (it is not clear that Pinnacle bought rights to this software, which was not written by them).

I have tried many programs but have yet to find a product as good as this one. It is fast and creates good looking menus without any hassle. For the price, this is the best product for DVD authoring. I haven't had any of the problems that are stated by other reviewers. The product is also being upgraded from time to time (which will make this product even better than it already is!).
