This was purchased as a gift for a friend who already is wonderful flat-picker and was an admirer of Chris Smither. He expected a "and then I wrote... ..." and got a treasure of excellant information enabling an already good guitar player to move forward in style and technique. I only play the radio, so I'm going only on his very discerning opinion, and he rated it highly.

Not for the Beginner But Marvelous,

As a long time fan it was not surprising that Chris has a marvelous technique. The guy's wonderfully inventive and clever. The material is well presented, with a humble but wry style. The guy has an real skill as a teacher and delivers a lot of hints about performing as well as just playing his material. Lots of good stuff for the fingerstyle blues guys and gals. Not only is there a lot to learn and to share but the presentation is very nicely done. Some finger busting stuff but well worth the time. You are left with the feeling that he shared some of his art with you.
