The Stronger Seniors® Core Fitness Chair Exercise Program is designed by Stott Pilates Instructor Trainer and Faculty Provider Anne Pringle Burnell to help seniors develop the core foundation of the Body. The muscles of the Abdominals, the Lower Back, and the Pelvic Floor support the spine and internal organs, essential to the overall fitness of the body.

Core Strength is based on the teachings of Joseph Pilates, modified for the chair to make Pilates routines easy for Seniors and the mobility challenged.

Resistance band exercise not only provides for excellent muscle build up, but it definitely increases flexibility and range of motion. For those suffering from any movement impairing disabilities, band exercise can ease the discomfort and improve upon your range of motion.

The best part of resistance band exercise is there is virtually no impact. Multiple Sclerosis patients who can barely walk utilize resistance bands to keep the blood flowing through their legs by doing a few stretches with the band wrapped around the thighs.

About Anne Burnell

Anne Pringle Burnell created the Stronger Seniors® Chair Exercise Program. Her program is offered by ACE and AFAA for CECs, and Anne has trained hundreds of personal trainers at workshops across the country.

Ms. Burnell is a Continuing Education Provider and Instructor Trainer for Stott Pilates, for the American Council on Exercise (ACE), and the Aerobics & Fitness Association of America (AFAA), training Certified Personal Trainers in the special needs of Senior Citizens.

Ms. Burnell has also been a Faculty for the National Council on Aging.

Her other certifications include: Nia Technique, Kickboxing, Cycling, Aquatics, Seniors Instruction, and Pre- & Postnatal exercise.

Ms. Burnell has been a guest instructor at resorts throughout the U.S. and Carribean, and an Faculty Presenter for the National Council on Aging/American Society of Aging and the American Cancer Society.

Anne is an educator at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, the University of Illinois at Chicago, the Center for Life and Learning, Chicago, the Peninsula Spa, and Elements in Motion, a Stott PilatesTM Certification Center in Chicago.

My wife and I have gone to pilates classes for seniors using machines. But the classes are on the expensive side. So we tried a few pilates DVD's and most all are for younger, more flexible people. Since we are in our mid 60's and in pretty good shape, we wanted a program that challenged our ability. Most of the DVD's we tried mostly catered to seniors with some sort of physical quality that limited their abilities. Stonger Seniors has been the perfect program for our age group. The program is professionaly produced and Anne Pringle is the prefect instructor and moderator. She explains every step and clarfies why its being done.

We have been using it for 4 months and do the program 3 days a week and still enjoy it. It has made us more flexible and I don't feel like a big heap of muscle pain when I do outdoor activities such as snow removal. We have also purchased her Stonger Seniors Yoga and Stretch and Strenthening DVD's and we love them. --AFR Royersfield, PA

This program is awesome! It gives you a great strength training workout that you can do from a sturdy straight back chair. When you can't stand for long periods of time most workouts make you lose your enthusiasm about doing them. This one keeps you coming back for more! Anne Pringle Burnell is her lovely self on this DVD. I love all the Stronger Senior workout programs but this one I believe is my favorite! I am not quite a senior but have lived a very sedentary life until the past 3 months and I have serious back problems so the Stronger Senior DVD's are perfect for me! You really can get a great workout in! You get out of it what you put into it and if you really put some energy into the workout your muscles will ache in a most agreeable fashion!

I love Anne Burnell's DVDs. She is realistic, warm, understanding and knowledgeable about exercise and anatomy. This is my third DVD package from her, and I like how the resistance bands add a level of effort to the workout.
The workout is about 30 minutes long, plus a bonus hand exercise bit, which is fun to do and helpful for hand arthritis. After doing her workout, I feel stretched and refreshed, and I know I am working my core.
Highly recommended.

I have three of Anne Pringle Burnell's exercise dvd's and all of them give you a good workout. She has a pleasant delivery and it's fun working with other seniors. I would highly recommend all of her exercise videos.
