Exactly as described
This is exactly as it says. However, be forewarned, I bought this for my ATI HD4850. It seems the ATI cards support HDMI Audio over DVI if you use the special adapter that comes with the card. Unfortunately mine did not come with one so I hoped this would do the trick.. but it did not. The Video however was perfect so the item is very good at doing what it should.

Do some more research
I bought this adapter to connect my MacBook to my Panasonic LCD TV (to use as a monitor) via HDMI cable (since my TV only has HDMI and VGA, I wanted to keep HD). I bought this cable thinking it would be the most versatile, being that I wasn't exactly sure of the specs of this type of connection. I was wrong. This connector did NOT work with my Panasonic LCD TV...

I just received my adapter and it works perfectly. My TV has a dvi-i link and couldn't find anywhere a dvi-i to hdmi adaptor to connect my Philips blu-ray player. When I searched amazon and found this HDE product I instantly made my order. I chose standard shipping and it was delivered within just 10 days (I live in Greece, Europe). Ordered two of these for work to connect two projects in 3D setup to a Nvidia Quadro series graphics card. Upgrading from VGA to HDMI was a huge step up. Adapter works like charm and appears to be very sturdy. Soon going to order more to hook up more projectors. I highly recommend it.

I was a little sceptical about this HDMI to DVI-I adapter because it was so cheap in price. It looks well enough made and when I hooked it up to my HDTV DVI input it worked like a champ. I would recommend this to anyone who needs one. Just make sure you need a DVI-I adapter and not a DVI-D adapter because the two are not the same nor are they interchangeable. Great Product and fast shipping. Would buy from them again.

Cheap little adapter, but does the job well. Allows my now aging GTX260 to be used with my HDMI TV. Carries sound as well, once the video card is hooked up internally.

I did a bit of research on DVI connections and what type I needed for my TV prior to buying this part, and it paid off. This adapter works perfectly for connecting a standard HDMI cable to my new BluRay player and connecting the DVI adapter to my 2005 Olevia LCD TV, which has no HDMI jacks. It takes 10 minutes to Google descriptions and photos of the different DVI technologies...then just compare to your device. Good luck!
