My dog has a terrible case of fungal dermatitis with constant itching/scratching, hair loss and the worse smell around. He smelled like a barnyard animal. We used Malaseb shampoo twice a week at first (it was hard for us to shampoo him more than that) and then weekly for about one month. He is now much better. No longer scratching. Hair is growing back and he smells like a normal dog now. We also used the spray in between shampoos. We also purchased the pledgets, but found them akward to use. The spray worked better for us.

I was sitting here looking at my 9 year old border collie, and decided I had to write this review.

She has struggled with allergies and skin issues since we adopted her 5 years ago. Initially we were shocked when we noticed a patch of missing fur on the inside of her leg, and her leg appeared to be swollen and irritated. We brought her to the vet, and he gave her rounds of steroids and antibiotics. She reacted very badly to the steroids, so we knew that this was not going to be able to be a frequent treatment for her, however her skin issue calmed down and she was fine for a while. (It was the vet who said she probably had some sort of allergy.)

After a lot of research we narrowed her allergies down to dog food and flea and tick allergies. (If your dog is having skin/dermatitis issues, please START with making sure that he/she is treated for fleas and ticks, and that you switch to a high quality dog food - Tractor Supply has a grain free food that won't break the bank. This should make a HUGE difference.)

Fast forward to the incident a couple of months ago that prompted me to buy this shampoo... Our dog took a turn for the worse and she was not recovering in spite of the fact that we were treating her condition the way we had been for years. (Along with pest control and a grain free diet, we bathed her frequently with a medicated shampoo.) Nothing was working. She was miserable, losing weight, and looked awful. At one point I seriously thought we were going to lose her. On top of everything else, she had developed an awful odor that our current shampoo would not get rid of.

Our poor dog woke me up at 5 a.m. one morning with her itching and pacing.

If your doggy has a musty, doggy oder, is itchy and begining to loose hair, your best bet is to use Malaseb Spray and Shampoo. My dog went for almost a year being misdiagnosed with all sorts of conditions and I spent thousands of dollars trying to figure it all out. At witts end I finally did a little reading and figured out he maybe suffering from yeast infection also known as "Canine Malassezia." Malaseb spray and shampoo are totally effective against this condition. As of 3 weeks in, his hair is growing back and itchyness had decreased dramatically. I highly recommend this as your first option, especially if there is an oder involved; that gives the condition away becase yest infections are rarely oderless.

I have a blue pit (her name is Karma). Pits (especially blue pits) are known for their propensity for skin infections. When Karma was around 1 or 2 she started getting these sores on her belly. They eventually moved up to her back. They would be very itchy and she was very stinky. We took her to the vet who prescribed steroids and antibiotics. She did not react well to the steroids but the antibiotics relieved the sores and symptoms. We went through this multiple times and thought maybe it was a food allergy....that wasn't it. Then we went to a pet allergist. THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS LATER we thought we found the solution. I was injecting her every 3 weeks and it was going to be FOR LIFE! We had even tried malaseb early on but weren't very diligent about it. Thought it couldn't help with these allergies. Anyway, the sores came back even with the allergy shots. We finally said screw this and started shampooing her DILIGENTLY! 2-3 times a week....every week.....no question. She has no sores. Not one! She always had most of her problems around fall time. Especially if we went on long walks in the park/forest. Not this year. She is absolutely perfect. We now only bathe her once a week because things are back to normal again. This product is a miracle and has saved us thousands of dollars. Please.......to anyone who is a skeptic.....try it. I'm sure it doesn't work for everything but its $20 vs a trip to the vet that will cost hundreds. LOVE THIS PRODUCT!!!

I used this to fight ringworm on my newly-adopted kitten, and then my dog who contracted it. I used Malaseb spray in conjunction with the shampoo and it works great. It not only kills fungus but it leaves their coats soft and shiny. It really worked great, I would recommend having Malaseb products on hand for anyone with animals. It also works great on itchy, flaky skin. My dog had terrible lesions that erupted out of nowhere three weeks ago. Now the skin is healing and the lesions are starting to shrink. It's been about six weeks since the kitten presented with clinical signs of ringworm and she is healing up quickly as well.

Our Golden Retriever suffers from periodic yeast-type infections around his face and especially the paws. While I wash most of his body with non-allergenic shampoo...I lather up those yeast areas well with Malaseb (letting it sit for 5 minutes) and always see immediate improvement...seems to also do a great job at neutralizing associated odors. They offer a spray for maintenance, but I've found it best to just lather up a cloth and do a spot wash in between full baths. Excellent product.
