One thing to remember when ordering a similar product is that it has an expiration date.

DO NOT BUY FROM ENTIRELY PETS!! Synovi G3 is a great product and has helped my dogs tremendously. I've purchased from vets and from other companies on Amazon with great success. BUT, I purchased soft chews from ENTIRELY PETS and my dogs refused to eat them. Several times I found tiny pieces of wood on the chews where my dogs spit them out but I thought perhaps it was tracked into my house. Then I split a chew out of the container and it had 3 tiny chunks of wood in it! The company refuses to discuss and the manager won't call me back. BEWARE THIS COMPANY AND BUY SYNOVI G3 FROM SOMEONE ELSE!!!

Update Janary 2009: I contacted Synovi G3's manufacturer, IVX Animal Health and shipped them the remaining chews I had from Entirely Pets. They initiated a quality investigation and sent me a letter stating the following. "Inspection of the returned complaint samples showed some inconsistencies between the product you returned to us and the product in our current inventory. We believe that these inconsistencies may be related to the manner in which this product was purchased. IVX Animal Health recommends that our products be purchased ony through your veterinarian. IVX regrets any inconvenience this incident may have caused." In my conversation with the company, they told me that they do not sell directly to any of the companies who are selling on Amazon.

Verified Purchase
i gave my 8 y/o lab/shepherd mix glucosamine pills religiously with little results. my vet suggested these chews and after 2 weeks i noticed a HUGE improvement in my dog's movement. no more difficulty standing up after rest periods, runs up the stairs past me, pulls me around the neighborhood. it's great!! would highly recommend this product and the vendor to anyone with a large dog with genetic disposition for joint problems or previous injury/surgery.

Our vet recommended this product for our dog that has arthritis. She is picky on what she eats and she enjoys the soft chews. She is stiff when she first stands up but once she starts walking she is fine. When the colder weather hit we give her an extra one and really seems to help with her joint pain.

Apparently, the DVM was bought by IVX, which was later bought by Teva Animal Health. That company has been shut down by the FDA (a little more than "an inspection problem," in my opinion).

From the FDA website, issued July 31st, 2009

FDA Takes Action Against Teva Animal Health Inc.
Company fails to adhere to current Good Manufacturing Practice regulations

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced a consent decree of permanent injunction filed today, that prohibits Teva Animal Health Inc., its president, and two principals from its parent company, from manufacturing and distributing adulterated veterinary drugs. The injunction, once entered by the court, will prevent the defendants from manufacturing and distributing veterinary drugs until they achieve compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and obtain FDA approval.

"Good manufacturing practice standards are the backbone of product quality and the instrument on which the FDA relies most heavily for assurance that veterinary drug products are safe and effective," said Bernadette Dunham, D.V.M., Ph.D., director of the FDA's Center for Veterinary Medicine.

During inspections between 2007 and 2009, the FDA found significant cGMP violations at Teva Animal Health's facilities, located in St. Joseph, Mo.

Under the terms of the consent decree, Teva Animal Health cannot resume manufacturing and distributing veterinary drugs until adequate methods, facilities, and controls are established and an independent expert inspects the facilities and procedures and certifies that they comply with cGMP. The FDA also will also inspect Teva Animal Health's facilities as needed before authorizing the company to resume operations.

A few years ago I was buying the Synovial G3 from my vet for my two big male Golden Retrievers who occasionally came up lame after playing hard on the beach and in the water. They were very effective. I have to travel quite a distance to get to the vet so one point he did mention that I can order them on Amazon. I ordered them a few times and everything seemed fine.

Then one day they weren't interested in the treats anymore. The youngest dog especially, who will usually eat anything that isn't nailed down, spit it right out. I tried hiding the choosing their food and they would eat around them and leave them in the bowls. Without considering that there might be something wrong with the product I simply concluded they were tired of them and wanted to move on.

Recently the vet recommended I get them back on these choose. So I'm back on Amazon shopping. After reading several reviews where others have received old, dried-up, or possibly counterfeit product I am concerned about were Amazon is actually getting the product. (See other one-star reviews.) The product is listed as shipped and sold by Amazon.com. Given that size and reputation I expect Amazon to be taking steps to ensure it is shipping legitimate product from reliable sources. Whether it's nutritional supplements, books, DVDs, electronics etc. I expect the retailer to know who is supplier is. As a customer, I do not want to unknowingly be buying outdated, knock off, or pirated products.

Amazon does identify one products are shipped and sold by other suppliers. I do not expect Amazon to police them or others who use the Amazon marketing services. But when they are identifying themselves as the retailer I want to have confidence as a customer that I'm getting the product I expect.
