BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE!!!,
By Kelci (Orange County, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: DVM Resources SynoviG3 Soft Chews, 240 Chews (Misc.)
DO NOT BUY FROM ENTIRELY PETS!! Synovi G3 is a great product and has helped my dogs tremendously. I've purchased from vets and from other companies on Amazon with great success. BUT, I purchased soft chews from ENTIRELY PETS and my dogs refused to eat them. Several times I found tiny pieces of wood on the chews where my dogs spit them out but I thought perhaps it was tracked into my house. Then I split a chew out of the container and it had 3 tiny chunks of wood in it! The company refuses to discuss and the manager won't call me back. BEWARE THIS COMPANY AND BUY SYNOVI G3 FROM SOMEONE ELSE!!!
Update Janary 2009: I contacted Synovi G3's manufacturer, IVX Animal Health and shipped them the remaining chews I had from Entirely Pets. They initiated a quality investigation and sent me a letter stating the following. "Inspection of the returned complaint samples showed some inconsistencies between the product you returned to us and the product in our current inventory. We believe that these inconsistencies may be related to the manner in which this product was purchased. IVX Animal Health recommends that our products be purchased ony through your veterinarian. IVX regrets any inconvenience this incident may have caused." In my conversation with the company, they told me that they do not sell directly to any of the companies who are selling on Amazon.

Good product,
Our vet recommended this product for our dog that has arthritis. She is picky on what she eats and she enjoys the soft chews. She is stiff when she first stands up but once she starts walking she is fine. When the colder weather hit we give her an extra one and really seems to help with her joint pain.

i gave my 8 y/o lab/shepherd mix glucosamine pills religiously with little results. my vet suggested these chews and after 2 weeks i noticed a HUGE improvement in my dog's movement. no more difficulty standing up after rest periods, runs up the stairs past me, pulls me around the neighborhood. it's great!! would highly recommend this product and the vendor to anyone with a large dog with genetic disposition for joint problems or previous injury/surgery.

FDA Closed this Company Down July 2009,

The FDA closed the company that makes this product in July 2009. Any product that is still for sale will either be expired or close to expiration. Plus the FDA closed them for unsafe manufacturing practices. Amazon should stop selling them, but at least beware. We got these instead, and they are working fine for our older dogs: Joint MAX TRIPLE Strength SOFT CHEWS (120 CHEWS)

Great supplement,
Our vet recommended this supplement for our dog that has arthritis in one of her knees. He highly recommeded it and after using it for about a month, we noticed a great difference. And the price we purchased it for at Amazon can't be beat!

Current Manufacturer Shut Down By FDA,
By
This review is from: DVM Resources SynoviG3 Soft Chews, 240 Chews (Misc.)
Apparently, the DVM was bought by IVX, which was later bought by Teva Animal Health. That company has been shut down by the FDA (a little more than "an inspection problem," in my opinion).
From the FDA website, issued July 31st, 2009 FDA Takes Action Against Teva Animal Health Inc. Company fails to adhere to current Good Manufacturing Practice regulations The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced a consent decree of permanent injunction filed today, that prohibits Teva Animal Health Inc., its president, and two principals from its parent company, from manufacturing and distributing adulterated veterinary drugs. The injunction, once entered by the court, will prevent the defendants from manufacturing and distributing veterinary drugs until they achieve compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and obtain FDA approval. "Good manufacturing practice standards are the backbone of product quality and the instrument on which the FDA relies most heavily for assurance that veterinary drug products are safe and effective," said Bernadette Dunham, D.V.M., Ph.D., director of the FDA's Center for Veterinary Medicine. During inspections between 2007 and 2009, the FDA found significant cGMP violations at Teva Animal Health's facilities, located in St. Joseph, Mo. Under the terms of the consent decree, Teva Animal Health cannot resume manufacturing and distributing veterinary drugs until adequate methods, facilities, and controls are established and an independent expert inspects the facilities and procedures and certifies that they comply with cGMP. The FDA also will also inspect Teva Animal Health's facilities as needed before authorizing the company to resume operations. If, after resuming operations, the defendants fail to comply with any provision of the consent decree, cGMP, or the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, the FDA may order the company to stop manufacturing and distributing veterinary drugs, recall the products, or take other corrective actions. "The FDA will not tolerate the manufacture and distribution of adulterated animal drugs," said Michael Chappell, the FDA's acting associate commissioner for regulatory affairs. "Veterinarians and pet owners can be assured that the FDA will investigate and take regulatory actions against companies that produce animal drugs under conditions and controls that are inadequate to assure their safety and quality." In the event of future violations, the consent decree also subjects Teva Animal Health to payments of $20,000 for each day the defendants fail to comply with any provision of the decree and an additional $25,000 for each shipment of veterinary drugs in violation of the decree, up to $7.5 million per year.

My ten year old Rottweiler is a goodwill ambassador for the breed, but arthritic pain in his hips and front hocks was making him miserable. He wouldn't come upstairs to go to bed some nights, was sometimes not able to make it up the flight of stairs, he was licking at his joints all the time, and he started getting quite grumpy, something I just can't have with preschoolers and kindergärtners running around (who were raised with him and are having a hard time NOT climbing all over our senior the way they used to). We tried the doggie pain relievers to no avail... not only did they not seem to work well, they upset his stomach so in addition to pain, we had dog puke daily and joyously always seeming to happen just when I finally got to sleep. I didn't want to go to a painkiller such as tramadol which is prescribed frequently when Rimadyl and similar aren't working- my guy is still very active and I didn't want him lying around stoned. Our vet suggested this product starting off on a mega-dose (for his large size it was 5 a day). It did upset his tummy a bit but I added a generic people-brand acid reducer 1x in his morning food, and voila, no more upset. In two weeks there was a huge difference. No issues going upstairs, no grumbling when kids or our other dog got too close to legs, wanting to take car rides (required jumping to get in the car). We're down to 2.5 a day, and I've started giving this as a regular daily to my other dogs. It seems to help coat too, because I've noticed less shedding and more shine. It's so rare that something works this well and I'd swear on the heads of my children that it does. I went from thinking my boy would be headed on the one way trip to the farm within the year to looking forward to a few more good ones, incredible and wonderful because he's the best dog who ever lived. Seriously, I give this product all the credit for extending his comfortable life. I will caution that if you go off it (I was late reordering) it takes no time at all to see symptoms creeping back up, so be sure to reorder early.

Great price, but who's the supplier?,
By
This review is from: DVM Resources SynoviG3 Soft Chews, 240 Chews (Misc.)
My 105 pound 8-year old collie loves these, but I haven't seen any improvement in his moving around. I still believe in the product as a good way to dose him some needed nutrients. However, I wish that Amazon would identify the supplier. These were much drier than ones I've gotten from my vet, and I know that some suppliers are not as reliable as others.

Softchews big hit with dogs,
I used to give my dogs glucosamine pills wrapped in treats. These are a wonderful change because they're much easier. My dogs love them and I can mash other small pills into these softchews when they have additional medication. I also find them to be more cost effective than the pills and do the same job.
