Excellent transmitter and receiver combination, I am still a beginner in this hobby and debated on buying either this or the Dx5e because of the large price difference. I am glad I spent the extra $100, mainly because of the on board computer system. Being able to program and test mixes in the field will change the way you fly. Range is amazing, and using the 2.4GHz spread spectrum tech makes 72MHz glitches a thing of the past. Another plus is that the receiver is very small and would work even with limited space for electronics. I will be buying many more AR6200 receivers. I'm sure if taken care of properly you will not need another transmitter for many years.

I like all of the fine adjustments you can make with respect to the control sensitivity, rate, and extent of servo travel. It's got a timer for each of the ten memory slots, so you won't need a stopwatch to keep track of how long your plane's batteries have been putting out energy to the motor. The ergonomics is very good...I wish they would use neoprene rubber for a more grippy and secure feel. About the only major thing that it lacks is more than ten memory slots. So what did I do? Buy the DX7, which has twenty memory slots for 20 airplanes.

If you are new to the hobby, and are looking for a good programmable radio, you can't go wrong with this DX6i. It's an awesome radio, with 10 model storage, which is more then enough for a newb getting into the hobby.Get this radio, you won't be disappointed.

This a superb beginner's radio with a sweet price point. I have had one for a couple of years. I use it pretty much every week with my smaller micro indoor RC models. The Spektrum is pretty easy to program.I also have a Futaba I use for my larger outdoor helicopters & gliders. It's a great radio but very expensive. I considered Futaba when getting into micro flyers, but a cost/benefit analysis led me to the Spektrum DX6. It has all of the programming capability needed for smaller models and is low priced. I have not had any issues with the Spektrum and am happy with it. If you are just getting to the hobby, I think that this is the radio to get. It has all of the functionality you need until you gain experience and are ready to move up into the intermediate range of models. It is also a great second radio for your micro flyers.

When I received this controller it was in perfect conditions and I could program my TREX 450 parameters to play in my Reflex XTR simulator. Everything was OK but 4 hours later I realized that the LCD was shut downt. I thought it was some batery saving mode but this LCD screen never turned on again. Amazon is very seriurs in its customer service and offered me a full refund and no shipping charges. It was ok but I have to wait one more week for another one because it's a very good controller!. I hope my new one works ok.

The Spektrum line is cheaply built and is indicative of the kind of company that owns them: Horizon Hobby. The switches all break with minimum use and they are hard to replace. I would recommend looking into other radio manufacturers such as Futaba. These hobby distributors are basically monopolies and make and sell mediocre products due to the fact that they own the market. Futaba is a huge company and makes radios for the military as well as strong commercial radio applications. If you like to support the big oil concept then buy a Spektrum, but I would recommend looking into others and not following the herd.
