I bought this as a gift for my wife in hopes that it was a great little camcorder for the price. It's supposed to be full 1080P camcorder with underwater capabilities. My wife opened up the camcorder and we instantly charged the battery to see how well it works. After the battery was charged I put it in the camera and wanted to see what we got for the price. I noticed that when I push the "Power" button it turned on and then shut down immediately, I then had to turn it back on. I thought that was kind of weird, but we kept on checking this out. Then I noticed that in 1080P you can't zoom at all. So if I wanted to record my daughter's soccer game I guess I would just have to run on the field and follow her around to get 1080P quality video. Then I put it in 720 mode and there you can zoom in and out. Not what I wanted, but maybe I could live with it.

I then did some recordings so I could do a playback and see the quality. It was horrible! The picture was grainy and terrible pictures the further I zoomed in. I tried to play with the settings and found that it didn't help at all. White balance and low light picture quality is not good at all. I was actually embarrassed to have purchased this as a gift for my wife. On the playback the sound was muffled and I couldn't pick up anything more than 2 feet away and was very hard to hear on the playback. It probably doesn't help that the microphone is on the top where your fingers rest. I did make sure my finger wasn't covering the microphone and that didn't make a difference at all. What I did find with the sound,(during playback), is that if you zoom in and out or change or push any buttons it is picked up by the microphone quit well, much better than someone talking.

On to trying to take still pictures. That was horrible too. All the pictures were blurry and grainy. This camcorder is just bad all the way around. I since have returned it hoping it is just a defective one and not a product that was put out for people to buy. Just a disappointment of a camcorder.

Pros: Lightweight, buttons are easy to navigate, waterproof (Didn't test it).

Cons: Complete waste of money, muffled sound, can't hear anything over 2 feet away, can't zoom in or out in 1080P. 720 is all you can record in with the zoom function. Playback of video is grainy and worse than a VCR used on a High Def TV with an old tape, "Still" pictures were blurry and not quality at all.

We bought this videorecorder for my daughter's 16th birthday trip to Hawaii. The first day at the beach, she took it to see the beautiful underwater fish and coral. Despite following directions and in the modes needed, 15 minutes in the water and the videocamera was fried. Water was in every compartment, including the lens. The SD was also fried in the electrical meltdown. Despite the video being really good, if you are looking for a wateproof camera, pass this one by.

lens fogged up in water making video or pictures not good at all. Sound muffled. Video way over exposed in the sun, even with ev compensation or white balance adjustment, it was not good. I returned it.

Works very well. I have used it 2 times underwater in a muddy Creek and it works just fine. Read the directions, UNLIKE the people who had problems with it. The sound its great and it records in HD. Pretty cool for just over $100. After you record underwater, let the cam dry before you open it. Duh. See my videos on youtube under Krazytravis (oneword) It will give ya an idea of the sound and underwater quality.

Pros: It takes OK videos for the price. Macro switch is a nice feature. Battery life is OK but not great. Auto Focus works well most of the time.

Cons: Zoom doesn't work in 1080p mode. The light is useless beyond 2 feet. The microphone only records clearly if you are within 3 or 4 feet of the camera and has no 'gain' setting. In filiming a group around the pool I was about 10 feet away, you could tell people were talking but you couldn't understand what they were saying. Works poorly in 'low-light'. Will sometimes lock up requiring a battery removal to get it to work again. Hi-Def but not 'wide screen'.

I purchesed this camera thinking it would be great around the pool but 'not-so-much'. Spend a little more and get a better camera.

I recently bought this camcorder and am surprised at the value. It is a great little camcorder for the money. If you're looking for a affordable camcorder, this is it!!!! a few cons for me is the limited zoom...it does not zoom on 1080 setting and the night time setting isn't the best....I have not used it in the water yet, but I mainly got it for if it rains while I have it on me, or at water parks!!!!!!

What a huge mistake! Horrible quality! I took it to Miami to film outside the water and inside the water but both came out severly blurry and I cannot even show people the videos I took! A trip wasted! Don't waste your money! Thank God I had a back up Sanyo Xacti and it was able to at least have something. But the DXG is a cheap fake! The 1080 quality is not real! My cell phone takes better video!!!! OMG! Very very poor quality.....they should be removed from the shelves everywhere! That is why the price is so cheap! I made a huge mistake in buying this. I saw the demo video and they made it look so wonderful.....but in reality its a horrible product! TWO THUMBS DOWN VIGOROUSLY!!!!! Now mine is broken and will not even work. First the blurry videos and now it has a problem turning on and off. I threw it away in the trash! What a waste!
