This little label printer works better than I expected. It's fast - first label comes out less than 2 seconds. It doesn't use a standard print driver (which makes sense). The DYNO software took a few seconds to figure out, but no manual was needed - just a little playing. 5 minutes later - it was surprisingly productive.

Every small office should have one - a 1000 times better than trying to print a few labels on a sheet & trying to line them up correctly.

I have five label printers, three are DYMO. That is about two too many. DYMO's paper labels work well for quick and dirty jobs. They fade rapidly in sunlight, so they cannot be considered for durability in daylight. That is why I ordered a DYMO Duo. It has vinyl tapes in addition to paper tape. The vinyl labels are durable. The problem, though, is DYMO's implementation. Their tape drive is obtuse and unreliable. I have a couple of TZ tape printers, one from Brother and one from Stanley. They are rock solid and never fail me. The DYMO is nothing but trouble. If you want temporary paper labels, DYMO is fine. If you need a durable vinyl label, do not buy DYMO.

I'm a Bzzagent and recently received a Dymo Labelwriter 450 Duo to review. I had been wanting a labelwriter for a while so was very excited to give this one a try.

Setup didn't go as easily as I thought it would and it took me a couple of attempts before the installation worked. Once I got it running, using the Dymo was a breeze. I was amazed at how quickly the stamps and labels printed (71/minute).

I run a small business from home and have used stamps.com in the past. I liked using the stamps.com service but hated that I needed to pay a monthly fee in addition to postage costs. Eventually, I stopped using stamps.com and just used the United States Postal Service website to print postage. USPS was free but didn't allow me to print first class stamps. The Dymo solved all my problems. I load my account with money for postage and that's it. No subscription fees.

You can also print labels of varying sizes (e.g., address labels, shipping labels, file labels, etc.).

The labelwriter uses thermal technology to print the labels which means you'll never have to buy ink or toner.

The Dymo Labelwriter 450 Duo Label Printer is a product I'll be using for a long time and is great for any home or business.

I have used Dymo labelers in the past as well as Brother P-touch models. The Dymo 450 Duo is the fastest and most versatile of them all. I haven't tried the postage feature but for mailing labels and for file folders it works great. It's small footprint also works well in my crowded office. The software is intuitive and easy to use. The graphics on screen verify the final output.

I bought this to replace my LabelManager PnP because I wanted to be able to print my own postage and bypass trips to the post office. I read all of the info about not having to pay for a monthly subscription to use Dymo Stamps, just buying postage and labels for it. Unfortunately, what I didn't read is that as of June 2013, you have to start entering an Activation Code from Dymo-brand postage stamp labels or the stamps system won't work. They're forcing us to buy their labels now... Glad I can find them cheap-ish on Amazon now! I should say, as a label printer it works great. It does everything I need it to. I just don't like to be forced into buying their peripherals if I don't want to.

Please... save yourself some aggravation and DO NOT purchase this printer. It will print labels but if you are wanting to print stamps with it, you will be immediately trapped into having to upgrade the printer. This is a rip-off. If you believe the description that you are able to print DYMO stamps, you will not be able to. You will either have to pay a monthly subscription fee or pay for another upgrade and who knows what else. Endicia support line is very sarcastic and rude. Please do not deal with DYMO/Endicia/Newell Rubbermaid. You will be very sorry that you purchased from them.

Do not purchase this item unless you want to either pay a monthly fee or purchase their overpriced Dymo brand labels. Despite the description, you CANNOT use generic labels unless you sign up for a monthly plan. If you have any doubts about this I invite you to look at the Endicia page on Facebook. I will be going back to using forever stamps starting today. Again, if you plan to use this machine for printing postage you will either have to pay a minimum of $9.99 per month or buy their "official" labels at a cost of 10.5 cent each. Nice physical printer, but now mine will become just another dust collector.
