5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Excellent & Works flawlessly with Apple Computers too!
I was quite skeptical when purchasing this product. Usually hardware that says it's PC & Mac compatible falls short on one of those platforms. Not so here... this little printer works like a charm on my iMac. It's a breeze to install, paper is easy to load, and the software is both graphically pleasing and incredibly easy to use. You can copy and paste addresses right...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not sure how long it will last....
Had this right at 6 months. Bought it so I would not have to worry about ink and replacing everything all the time.
The thermal printing on 1 side is worn out. It is not used alot, so I am upset that 1 side is already had it share of the spot light. Only half of the words show up. What is the purpose of having a twin if one side does not work.......

You can copy and paste addresses right into the program and it will check to see if it is a valid address, add the +4 to your zip codes automatically, and even print the USPS barcode on the label for faster sorting. It even integrates with Mac OS X and allows you to print labels by selecting anyone in your Mac's address book. Also, printing your own postage is a huge convenience. There is no extra cost for buying postage online, just the cost of the label, which if bought in bulk or manufactured by a third party, is really quite cheap. For the convenience of not having to go to the post office to buy stamps, the cost of the labels is a fair trade-off. It makes addressing packages and envelopes a total pleasure instead of a hassle. You can also use a USB scale to automatically calculate postage based on weight. This will calculate shipping for first class, as well as priority and express mail service. All around an excellent product and well worth the price.

Two Important Tips: 1) When installing a new roll of labels, there will be some sticky residue left from the glue put there to keep the spool from unraveling. Peel off the label with the sticky stuff on it before feeding it through your printer to prevent the residue getting on the paper feed roller. If the glue gets on the roller, it is likely to cause paper jams. 2) This printer uses thermal paper, not ink. The labels are best used for shipping, or things that require temporary labeling (less than six months). These labels WILL fade after time, and will fade very quickly if left in direct sunlight or in an overly hot environment. This is not a shortcoming of this printer, but of thermal paper technology in general. If you are looking to use this for long term labeling, I would recommend using a different labeler like a Brother P-Touch.

UPDATE: This first one of these worked so well at work, I have purchased a second one for home and added a USB scale to each. Very Very happy with this purchase. Highly recommended!

We have about 2 dozen of the original Dymo TwinTurbo Labelwriters. As they have been breaking, I have been replacing them with this new 450 model.

The main difference is that these new 450's print much faster with virtually no pause when printing multiple labels. They use the same print driver as original TwinTurbo's which is convenient (we don't install the Dymo software).

This is a fast, sleek, sharp label printer

I have purchased over 12 Labelwriters for myself over the years. They continue to make significant and important improvements. The 450 Twin Turbo is no exception - fast, accurate printing, versatile, and handy to use. One of its outstanding features is the new release of Labelwriter software - Excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, March 17, 2010

This review is from: DYMO Label Writer 450 Twin Turbo label printer, 71 Labels Per Minute, Black/Silver (1752266) (Office Product)
I recently purchased the Dymo Labelwriter 450 Twin Turbo wondering if I really should have invested the money. I had been looking at it for over two years and it went on sale. My wife and I had been preparing sheet labels for our daughter's wedding on the laser printer and it became too expensive and took too long. This little jewel has been one of my best investments! It printed everything in less time than it took me just to feed the sheets using the laser printer, printed them in an easy to peel format (no time wasted as with the laser printer), and I was able to print directly from a database. The merge label option in the Dymo software made it easier than using Excel and Word to merge the labels and offered more control over the results! You can set the printer to print only the screen shot or the entire database.

I should have bought this when I first started looking at it. The roll labels actually work out cheaper, faster, and of better quality than the laser sheets. One label or multiple labels-nothing beats this little device. On sheet labels laser sheets are already higher priced than ink jet because they must be made to endure more heat. Our time spent labeling the envelopes was 25% of what it had taken using the printer sheets. Also, you can load both sides of the Twin Turbo and print from both at the same time for more speed. My wife did not call this little wonder a toy! Buy it- you will not regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this!, December 23, 2009

I had some initial trouble getting the labels fed into the machine correctly; however, it's just a matter of getting used to it. No problem now.

The labels print fast! They look very professional. No ink is involved.

You can save labels for easy recall later.

There are special chemicals in the paper the labels are made of and some kind of heating element in the machine activates them. This gives the appearance of labels printed with ink, but there's no ink. -- You don't have to worry about smudges.

This device is simply wonderful.

I much prefer this to buying sheets of labels at the store and using a desktop printer. - After all, in addition to quality issues, you don't always want a sheet of 30 labels.

This is the first label printer I have owned and I only wish I had bought it sooner.

I love this Dymo. It allows me to keep my life organized, print address labels and postage quickly, then move on to the next thing. The install is easy, the new V.8 software is amazing, and the style of the printer is really nice compared to next models.

I would recommend this label printer more than any other brand or model I've used.

I have used this product for about a week so far it works pretty well. Easy to install and setup on my Macbook Pro. However, at first I had difficulty with the right hand side of the printer. It kept saying "Out of Paper" and it would not print. I thought it was broken at first but I reinserted the labels a few times and it works perfectly now. My labels are also ordered from [...].

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE MY LABEL PRINTER!!!!, May 4, 2010

I am studying alternative/holistic medicine and have been working towards starting my own small business. I was writing on index cards and taping them to bottles and containers with instructions--and my hand writing is difficult even for me to read. This label writer has been wonderful! I am able to make the things I give to people look so much more professional now. I've also been able to do things like put labels on all of my tinctures that include all of the properties of the herb. I've come up with dozens of other things to use it for once I saw what it could do. Be aware--the software does indeed leave a lot to be desired. That's the only down side--but it's not all that difficult to work around. Also--I am a real klutz when it comes to electronic equipment. I usually get really frustrated and end up having to call my significant other in to help me out. Within just a few minutes after I unpacked my machine, I had printed out a label all by myself. Instructions are clear and simple. And the label writer is so fast and quiet! It's like all you have to do is think about printing a label and there it is! It's also very easy to switch from one label to the the other (and allows you to have two different sized labels in the machine at once). I highly recommend this label writer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mac OS X user review, March 28, 2011

I already own the Label Writer Duo (labels and tape printer) and wanted to add another printer to avoid swapping labels all the time. I've owned the Duo for a couple of years and it has worked flawlessly. The same software and drivers appear to work with the full range of Dymo labelers.
The labeler works as expected. This model has a little guide lever that was added to prevent the labels from moving left and right during printing, I never had a problem with any of the labels I put through the older Dymo, but I guess some users must have.
The labeler is supplied with two 'starter' rolls of labels, a nice way of saying they provide you with the minimal amount possible. You will want to buy more labels when you order the labeler. I've used 'compatible' labels for years without a problem, and they are considerably cheaper than the Dymo brand.

caveats:
The labeler WOULD NOT work when plugged in to the USB port on the keyboard (I confirmed this on 3 different Macs). Labels would begin to print and then just stop after moving 1/2 inch. No warning would be given, the job would just stay in the print queue. Moving the USB cable to the computer worked just fine.
The labeler can be shared using the Apple Airport line of WiFi routers. Just plug it in to the USB port on the wireless router, install the software on all your Macs, and the printer is available to everyone.
The bright blue status light will flash if one of the label compartments is empty. This can be distracting. You will need to keep labels loaded at all times to avoid this.
The power supply is external, if consists of a power brick and a standard Unpolarized C7 Cord. This makes the complete unit bulkier than needed, but the advantage is the power strip can be located under the desk. Another advantage is the separate power brick and power cord make for a fairly long reach from the power outlet to the printer.
