These are great because I have little kids who like to put their own DVDs in the player and of course get fingerprints or worse all over them. So this is a way for them to be independent and for me not to be paranoid about their hurting the disks. Having said that, there does seem to be one drawback. The skins work better on new or unblemished disks. If the disk is already a little scratched, the device seems less able to read the disk with a skin on. However, I have never had a problem with a new disk. So it may be that the skin does add a little interference which only serves to magnify any problem the disk has. I still give it 5 stars because it's such an awesome product.

I bought these in hope that they would be the great thing that they are advertised to be. They weren't! First of all, when using them on an Xbox game, it GREATLY slows down the game, to the point that it is unplayable. When I tried to use these in my laptop, they were a no go! It wouldn't even read the disk and it sounded like my laptop was an airplane taking off due to my cd drive frantically trying to read the disk to no avail. On a desktop computer, it will read some data disks with the d-skin on it, but it's slow. You won't be watching an mpg or vcd movie with the d-skin on for instance. I don't know how well they work on a cd player with musical cd's, but anything else is definately out. Since I am an mp3 man, I have no need to play music cd's, so I haven't tried them. I wish these worked as promised, I REALLY do, it would be a dream. Perhaps someday this idea will be perfected and then I can give FIVE stars instead of ONE!

I primarily use these for music CD's and they are great. I was hesitant about putting it in my CD player because it's a 6-disc in-dash changer and I was worried it would get stuck or something. It didn't and I now use them on all of my cd's, One 20-pack cost the same as it would cost to replace one scratched CD. Overall a great product.

I decided go give these D_Skin protectors a try, even though there have been some pretty poor reviews. I've had no problem with them. I've put them on a bunch of my favorite DVDs and tested them on my Sony Vaio Laptop computer, and my Sony 5 disc DVD player, and an old Sony DVD player ( 5 or 6 years old) and it works fine on all of them. It does not work in my XBox. The XBox finds the disk unreadable with a skin on.
Seems a very nice way to protect my favorite and most expensive or hard-to-replace DVDs.

I use cds every day in the work that I do. These have been great to avoid damaging the cd.

These skins fit a bit loose, so when the disc spins, the surface of the skin itself ends up scratching the disc!

This works for all dvd players except for the portable dvd player, which is the one we most wanted it to work on...due to that being the one my kid uses in the car and the dvds get scratched at that time.

okayb first off i just got this today so far its half good and half bad it plays my ps2 games pretty fine a little noise on some but not enough to effect the way it plays for use of ps2 games in the ps2 slim when ps2 slim is modded 5 stars i don't know if it plays in the slim when the slim ps2 is not modded, i tryed to play dvds in my modded ps2 slim with d-skin's on and it won't read the disk and i put it in a new dvd player it would not work so for use of protecting your dvds on a mac dvd player ps2 or laptop 1 star. for use of protecting ps2 games 5 stars... one of the reasons i rated this 5 stars i because its the thing that protects it while it plays

I have two small kids so I need to protect our DVDs. These worked fine in most of our players. Maybe had a problem with one, but it was not big deal. Definitely good to have if you have kids.

I have tried the skins both on audio CD's and Movie DVD's. The audio CD worked beautifully in my car player and computer player, which is great as I tend to keep cd's in my car, and the skin adds protection I've never before had.
Now, the problem lies with the DVD. I have tried several discs with the skin on in my dvd player, and none worked. It tried to load the DVD only to tell me "No Disc". I don't understand why it doesn't work there, but it doesn't.
I would highly recommend it for Audio discs, but not necessarily to save your DVD's unless your player can read through the skin.
