Nice, sturdy table ... once you put it together,
By Dad with another on the way (Tempe, AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: DaVinci Emily Baby Changing Table - White (Baby Product)
We bought this as a second changing table for our new baby. (We have another, larger table in our toddlers bedroom but figured that when we have to get up at oh god o'clock to take care of a newborn, it wouldn't be good to take said screaming newborn into the same room as a sleeping toddler.) So we looked around and decided to get something smaller that would fit into our bathroom until the little one starts sleeping through the night (please let that day come soon!)
In any case, the table looks very nice, and is quite sturdy ... once you put it together. There was one piece on the drawer where the metal slide was attached to the wrong side of the wood. I thought about contacting the manufacturer and asking them to send out another part, but it was the weekend and they were closed. So I figured I'd try to fix it myself ... simple to do, just unscrew the piece, flip the wood over, align the piece where it should go, and screw it back in again. It worked fine, but if I hadn't noticed the problem in the first place, I'd still be looking at the instructions trying to figure out how the drawer was supposed to be put together. Mainly for this reason did I deduct 2 stars. Oh, and another thing to remember ... if you have an older child (especially a toddler), expect that everything on the open shelves to wind up on the floor multiple times a week!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: DaVinci Emily Baby Changing Table - Honey Oak (Baby Product)
I purchased this changing table from Amazon because it matched our crib. What a MISTAKE!!!! The worksmanship of this table is very poor. The 2 sides pieces are held together by wooden pegs and wood glue. Most of the pegs were already broken, therefore the table was "wobbly". The finish scratches off just by running anything against the wood. Save your money...don't purchase this table!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This review is from: DaVinci Emily Baby Changing Table (Baby Product)
It has taken a couple months since I ordered this to actually be able to put it together. First, while there was no indication of this when I placed the order (it said "in stock", it was on backorder with the manufacturer. Home & Living contacted me, gave me an expected date, and asked me to confirm that I still wanted it. The item is drop shipped directly from the manufacturer, so no retailer would have been able to get it any faster. I went ahead with the order.
When it arrived and I opened the box, I found that the shelves are actually made of mdf/particle board with a veneer finish. The product description on this page says that the item is solid hardwood ("This solid hardwood changer...", still up 2 months after I notified them of the misleading description). It cannot be solid hardwood with mdf shelves. Also, unlike the description, these mdf/particle board shelves are not what I would describe as "sturdy." So, I start to wonder if the no formaldehyde and non-toxic finish mentioned in the description, and the reason I purchased this changer, are accurate. I contact the manufacturer (Million Dollar Baby) about this, and they re-assure me that they do not use formaldehyde, and the finish is indeed non-toxic. OK, can live with the lack of solid wood as long as it is not going to off gas toxins or coated with them. I take out all the pieces to assemble the item, and one of the dowels on the side piece is broken. Home & Garden is good about getting me a replacement, although it takes about another month for the replacement to arrive. I'm happy that I didn't have to send the whole thing back for a broken part. In fact, when the replacement arrives, there are two replacement parts. This was a good thing, as a dowel on one of the replacement parts was also broken. After two months, we have the unit put together and in service. It is attractive and does the job. The wood is a bit softer than I would classify as hardwood & dents fairly easy (it is a type of New Zealand pine but the manufacturer describes it as hardwood). Overall, I'm basically satisfied with the purchase and the customer service was responsive and took care of the problem, although slow in delivering. I didn't expect a great piece of furniture for this price, and I'd still buy this item if I had to do it all over again. I think for something like a crib, I'd spend the extra for a real quality hardwood crib, but for a changer, this does the trick without breaking the already strained budget. 2115|R23KS17YHVVX3G;2115|R2PLWYP2CNCZ4;2115|R1F4ENM5OF37Y6;
