Nice, sturdy table ... once you put it together,
By Dad with another on the way (Tempe, AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: DaVinci Emily Baby Changing Table - White (Baby Product)
We bought this as a second changing table for our new baby. (We have another, larger table in our toddlers bedroom but figured that when we have to get up at oh god o'clock to take care of a newborn, it wouldn't be good to take said screaming newborn into the same room as a sleeping toddler.) So we looked around and decided to get something smaller that would fit into our bathroom until the little one starts sleeping through the night (please let that day come soon!)In any case, the table looks very nice, and is quite sturdy ... once you put it together. There was one piece on the drawer where the metal slide was attached to the wrong side of the wood. I thought about contacting the manufacturer and asking them to send out another part, but it was the weekend and they were closed. So I figured I'd try to fix it myself ... simple to do, just unscrew the piece, flip the wood over, align the piece where it should go, and screw it back in again. It worked fine, but if I hadn't noticed the problem in the first place, I'd still be looking at the instructions trying to figure out how the drawer was supposed to be put together. Mainly for this reason did I deduct 2 stars. Oh, and another thing to remember ... if you have an older child (especially a toddler), expect that everything on the open shelves to wind up on the floor multiple times a week!

I purchased this changing table from Amazon because it matched our crib. What a MISTAKE!!!! The worksmanship of this table is very poor. The 2 sides pieces are held together by wooden pegs and wood glue. Most of the pegs were already broken, therefore the table was "wobbly". The finish scratches off just by running anything against the wood. Save your money...don't purchase this table!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It has taken a couple months since I ordered this to actually be able to put it together. First, while there was no indication of this when I placed the order (it said "in stock", it was on backorder with the manufacturer. Home & Living contacted me, gave me an expected date, and asked me to confirm that I still wanted it. The item is drop shipped directly from the manufacturer, so no retailer would have been able to get it any faster. I went ahead with the order. When it arrived and I opened the box, I found that the shelves are actually made of mdf/particle board with a veneer finish. The product description on this page says that the item is solid hardwood ("This solid hardwood changer...", still up 2 months after I notified them of the misleading description). It cannot be solid hardwood with mdf shelves. Also, unlike the description, these mdf/particle board shelves are not what I would describe as "sturdy." So, I start to wonder if the no formaldehyde and non-toxic finish mentioned in the description, and the reason I purchased this changer, are accurate. I contact the manufacturer (Million Dollar Baby) about this, and they re-assure me that they do not use formaldehyde, and the finish is indeed non-toxic. OK, can live with the lack of solid wood as long as it is not going to off gas toxins or coated with them. I take out all the pieces to assemble the item, and one of the dowels on the side piece is broken. Home & Garden is good about getting me a replacement, although it takes about another month for the replacement to arrive. I'm happy that I didn't have to send the whole thing back for a broken part. In fact, when the replacement arrives, there are two replacement parts. This was a good thing, as a dowel on one of the replacement parts was also broken. After two months, we have the unit put together and in service. It is attractive and does the job. The wood is a bit softer than I would classify as hardwood & dents fairly easy (it is a type of New Zealand pine but the manufacturer describes it as hardwood). Overall, I'm basically satisfied with the purchase and the customer service was responsive and took care of the problem, although slow in delivering. I didn't expect a great piece of furniture for this price, and I'd still buy this item if I had to do it all over again. I think for something like a crib, I'd spend the extra for a real quality hardwood crib, but for a changer, this does the trick without breaking the already strained budget.

Emily Changing Table - Great Addition to Room!,

This review is from: DaVinci Emily Baby Changing Table - White (Baby Product)
We ordered the DaVinci Emily Changing Table in white along with the coordinating crib. Couldn't be happier with this table - it's sturdy, easy to assemble and is the perfect size for our room. Plus it has a drawer underneath the top base - what a great spot to hide the little items like thermometers, etc. Don't think many changing tables offered this as an option. The only thing I would point out is that the shelves and interior of the drawer are particle board - they still seem perfectly fine and sturdy, but it you're looking for a solid wood piece... this isn't it. Would highly recommend this product.

Falsely advertised and flimsy,
This review is from: DaVinci Emily Baby Changing Table - White (Baby Product)
We got this table from our registry to match the Emily crib. Wish I'd read the reviews more closely. The product at the time I added it to our registry was advertised as solid wood. It is full of MDF/Pressed wood with very little actual solid wood. The product description still does not state this. The table had several flaws in the production (missing holes for screws, etc). Upon following instructions exactly, it ended up having four cracks in it by the time we put it together. Totally flimsy. My husband and I debated returning it, but we'd spent so long putting it together that we decided against it. My advice would be to think twice, though. Its hard to come by a good changing table that is solid wood in this price range, so I'd suggest looking at something made of another product. With this table, you'll get an Ikea-quality product.

This review is from: DaVinci Emily Baby Changing Table - Cherry (Baby Product)
I have been pleased with this changing table so far. It was easy to assemble and matches our crib nicely (Graco Ashleigh 4-in-1 Dropside Crib). I assumed that since this is supposed to be a higher-end changing table that the shelves would be more substantial, but they are just like the cheap, reinforced cardboard on lower-end changing tables. The changing pad is also very flimsy, so I would recommend purchasing one separately for when your child gets older and weighs more. I do like the added feature of the built-in drawer for stashing diapers, lap pads, bum creams, etc. All-in-all, it's a nice changing table. And I was glad to get it cheaper on Amazon.

Although we have yet to use this item (our baby is not due for another 2 months), I can say we are very impressed with it so far. It was in perfect shape when it shipped, the instructions were easy to follow, it was easy to build, and it looks beautiful. It's also very sturdy and seems well constructed. It's a very elegant addition to any nursery, and I love the cherry colour. Much more classy looking than many more expensive products. We also bought the Emily 4 drawer dresser and the Emily convertible crib, and are very impressed with both of those too.

The changing table have a good size and is sturdy enough to hold my baby, since I was worry for my baby (who is already 22 pounds and very long). I hope he can use it at least for a year.

The instructions for this table don't indicate orientation for the parts. Make sure you read the strap and drawer sections before starting to build, or you'll have to move the rails a few times.
