We love this crib!

The design is pleasing to the eye, with the sleigh design and the nice golden honey color.

The crib is sturdy. It is long enough, and at the lowest setting tall enough, for our 25lb 2 year old son. However, it's really light - so light that he can push it around the room! It's small enough that I can push it through the...

2.0 out of 5 stars not so great
I saw this crib online months ago but waited to get it because the mattress that goes with it was unavailable until late march. I was so excited to finally receive it, but was disappointed when i began to put it together. To begin with... the instructions are worthless. They are very hard to understand, I had to put them aside and figure it out on my own. Also, the...

We love this crib!

The design is pleasing to the eye, with the sleigh design and the nice golden honey color.

The crib is sturdy. It is long enough, and at the lowest setting tall enough, for our 25lb 2 year old son. However, it's really light - so light that he can push it around the room! It's small enough that I can push it through the doorway, down the hall, and into the living room if I need to.

One thing I like is that the front decorative roll bar can be left off, so that I can easily bend over the edge of the crib (I'm really short, 5'1"). It can also be easily reattached when we turn it into a bed.

The coolest thing is that it converts to a TWIN bed instead of a full sized bed. I've yet to meet a toddler/preschooler/elementary school kid that needs a full sized bed, but all the full size cribs convert that way! This is way better.

Three warnings about this crib:
1) You will need to use "portacrib" or "portable crib" sized mattresses and bedding. They're quite a bit harder to find.

2) If your kid is teething on this crib, it is difficult to find a protective teething rail that will stay on the sides because of the pretty curve.

3) It comes with a thin mattress pad, not a real mattress. When my son was an infant, we had an afghan that was exactly the right size to fold in half, and covered the entire floor of the crib, then we stuck the mattress pad over that. It worked for when he was tiny. Once he got heavier, we bought this:

MDB Sunshine Mini Mattress Pad

But that item is just a thicker mattress pad. We added the new, 3" one to the thin one that came with the crib, and it has worked fine for about a year, but it's starting to get worn/mushy in the middle.

We are now going to buy this one instead: MDB Crescent Mini Crib Mattress and since it's the same price, we probably should have bought this one to begin with!!

Overall, though, it's totally worth trying to track down portacrib bedding for it. We love this crib so much, we bought a second one (in cherry, which is also beautiful) for my daughter.

This review is from: DaVinci Emily Mini Crib - Natural (Baby Product)
The crib is ideal for small rooms. We were able to convert a small bedroom into a fairly complete nursery. Assembly is easier with two people but not that difficult. Just take your time and go through the directions. The crib is sturdy and the finish is nice. We got the "Natural Finish." The wood is soft but that is to be expected with pine. We are not using the pad that came with the crib, as it seemed a little insufficient for the long term. The platform that supports the mattress is adjustable but requires removing the screws at the four corners. Mattress thickness can go up to 5-inches as recommended on the mattress platform. Overall, good crib and very pleased with the end result.

5.0 out of 5 stars A crib that wont overwhelm your room., September 10, 2008

We bought this crib for our baby that will be born in 2 months. the crib is very nice and I have gotten compliments from every one that's has seen it. the cherry color is very nice but also easily scratched. But with a brown marker, scratches disappear. The installation kinda confused me at first but you get the hang of it after a couple minutes. Its not the full size that basically is a twin bed, its bed for a baby up to like 1-2years old. A must for spaces that will have baby sleep in ur room or small room. A Must is to buy the mattress that they sell separately because the one that comes is just a little 1 inch thing that i wouldnt have my baby sleep in. I consider the mattress that came with it as stain guard for the 100 dollar one i bought. Also sheets are smaller that the one they sell make sure to know the size of this mattress before you buy. We made our own, just bought very nice fabric and sewed like it was a large pillow case, wrapped the one side excess under mattress. Much prettier than the ones they sold, also alot cheaper 35 dollars compared to like 150 for store bought sets. Had enough to make sheets as well.

I bought this mini crib to be a twin bed for the older brother of our son in the crib--matching headboards, etc. I found the product GREAT! It's beautiful and very sturdy. I found the support (answering questions, finding out information) to be lacking...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great crib for limited space!, July 11, 2011
This is the perfect crib for families without a lot of space! We have a 3 bedroom home and are expecting our 4th child, our older kids share and the younger ones will as well but the 3rd bedroom is small and our 3rd child is still only 18 months himself so baby will be in our room for a while. The solution that came to mind right away was a pack and play but considering this will be baby's bed for at least a year I decided to go with something more substantial. Seems quite uncomfortable to sleep on a pack and play 'board' (cause it's not a mattress!) for long periods of time. I'm so glad we did.
This crib (honey oak) matches perfectly with our bedroom furniture, fits well in our room and looks nice! A few common complaints
*Yes, the wood does scratch easily! I'm okay with that, even the parts that got scratched by accident don't show well with the color we picked.
*Directions are definitely lacking BUT, I put it together, by myself at 7 months pregnant in less than an hour. I made sure to take my time because I had read reviews of the wood scratching easily and I wanted to make sure things were being put together as they should. It is pretty self-explanitory after looking at the directions but they definitely don't adequately say which part goes where in my opinion.
*Bedding- if you have even basic sewing skills it's so easy to sew a crib skirt and crib sheet. Bumpers are unsafe (though amazon does sell the breathable ones for mini cribs) as are the traditional quilts in bedding sets.
*Mattress pad, the one that comes with is thin. It actually isn't as thin as I thought it would be based on other reviews as it is thicker than the pad that comes with the bassinet I used for our second child. I went ahead and ordered the Dream On Me 3" mattress when I ordered the crib (when I went to order the crib on amazon it had went way up in price so I ordered it somewhere else). I stacked the two 'mattresses' and will probably use it like that.

As far as how long it will last, my 18 month old son fits in the crib so it will last me as long as I'll need it to
All in all, I'm definitely happy with our purchase and would (and do) reccomend it to anyone in a similar situation.

**UPDATE** 8/27/2011 Now that I am pregnant with my 2nd child, I have purchased this crib again! THE PROS DEFINITELY OUTWEIGH THE CONS! And for the price, it is SO WORTH IT!!!!!! **UPDATE**

I really love this crib. 2 years ago I bought this crib (Natural) for my son. It was easy to put together. I put it together almost completely by myself (although I wouldn't suggest it.. as its obviously easier with 2 people) in a short amount of time. The things I really needed were for the crib to convert so my son could use it for a long time, fit in a smaller room, and not break the bank. From what I remember, instructions were decent. Overall, I love this crib enough to buy another one. I just ordered one for my next child that it on the way. In my opinion, the positives far outweigh the negatives.

Reasons I love this crib:
1) It does NOT have a drop side (thank goodness, since they've all been recalled)
2) You can EASILY adjust the height of the mattress when needed.
3) It's a MINI crib, so it's smaller, but the perfect size in my opinion. It converts to a twin bed instead of a full. Our space is limited, so a full size crib was unrealistic. And most children don't need such a large space. My son has always been a big boy, but this bed was still perfect
4) The conversion rails (although had to be purchased separately) were also very easy to assemble and looks wonderful.

Things I DON'T like:
1) The wood is very VERY soft (because it's pine) so it scratches very easily. I scratched the wood even during assembly. After that, my son did the rest of the damage by using it as a teether. The bed now has obvious bite marks, but because of the light color, it doesn't look TOO obvious. I'm planning on painting it once my son gets older anyway.
2) The mattress that comes with it absolutely SUCKS! Super duper thin. It's a MUST to buy another mattress with it. You could even buy another thin mattress and stack them together. It was extra cost, but worth it, in my opinion. I usedCRESCENT MINI CRIB 50 COIL MATTRESS the MDB Crescent Mini Crib Mattress. It fit perfectly and is very durable! (HOPEFULLY YOU'LL BE ABLE TO USE THE CRIB MATTRESS AGAIN IF YOU HAVE OTHER CHILDREN LATER)
3) Because of the small size, a lot of conventional crib items dont fit. You have to make sure to buy sheets and bedding that specifically says "mini" crib or portacrib. The crib TEETHERS (the gel things that protect from bite marks) don't usually fit, but I'm sure I will find something as an alternative for my next baby. Crib BUMPERS don't really fit as well as on a normal crib. It still works, but I had to fiddle with it and experiment with putting it on.
4) It can't convert to a toddler bed... it goes from a crib to a twin. Once my son started climbing out, I converted it right away and just bought a bed rail. It worked out perfectly, but I wish it could have been a toddler bed.

Like I said, I love this crib enough to buy it again. I highly recommend it! If you plan on re-using the crib instead of converting it, just fill in the holes to make sure you get a tight fit when you screw in the screws again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, June 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My knowledge of cribs is very limited. So with that in mind, we wanted something that was simple without all the bells and whistles. Since we needed a crib for our small room, we decided on purchasing the Emily mini crib. Right out of the box, I thought "Damn! This thing is way too small and it looks flimsy!" The gods from Davinci corp proved me wrong! After whipping everything together, I was shocked to see how awesome the little crib looks. It is extremely sturdy and well designed. Although the crib is white, I expect it to deal with all the damage that will be inflicted upon it by the little Godzilla who will live inside of it. I am sure the white bar will be a scrumptious delicacy for mini Godzillas little jaws. Anyway my only problem with the crib was the blue prints. First of all, they were not blue, secondly the instructions were not very thorough. The individual pieces were not labeled, hence no reference to what goes where. The parts that were drawn on the instructions were slightly off the actual parts. This did not help, as I tried to build the crib as I would any Ikea furniture by simply looking at the pictures and comparing the parts. Eventually, after putting parts on backwards and such, I was able to finish the crib along with the additional instructions to use washers on all the screws. Within the packaging I was also missing several of the 3 inch bolts. After a small talk with Amazon, a partial refund was issued, and I went to Lowes and was able to pick up alternative bolts. So in conclusion (TLDR) this crib was an excellent purchase. Well designed, sturdy, along with an excellent array of raw materials. The platform for the bed is adjustable and can be lowered to ones preference.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect mini crib!, June 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I love this mini crib. It is the perfect size for the space I have. I have never bought anything online before so I was affraid to order this. I rated this a 4 only because the wood splintered on a small part of the one rail. I did not bother trying to send back becasue I was able to just put that part on the bottom of crib. For the price I thought this was a great deal(and I got free shipping)! I would definately buy this product again.

5.0 out of 5 stars GORGEOUS crib, June 10, 2011
Putting this thing together took forever, but in the end it was worth it. it looks amazing.

The mattress that comes with it is horrible, so I would suggest buying a different one. The MDB crescent mini crib mattress is also amazing, and fits in the crib like a glove.

Definitely worth the money :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute DREAM!!!!, May 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We got this crib because our daughters room was too cold this winter and she had to sleep upstairs with me instead of in her own room (which is fine because she isn't even 1 yet). We didn't want to move her BIG crib upstairs, so we decided to order a mini crib. This DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!!! I would recommend this to anyone for a second crib or even if they have s small living space. It is a great quality and baby has enjoyed it immensely. We did order a separate mattress for it because the one it comes with is more like a pad then a mattress. Also, being a mini crib, you will probably need to buy mini crib sheets and bumper off of Amazon (they aren't available at my local stores). Can't go wrong with purchasing this item!!
