5.0 out of 5 stars No problems here
I've had this changing table for over a year and love it. My husband and I put it together and it only took maybe an hour. It doesn't feel flimsy and it looks great. I foster babies/children and some are larger than newborns so, we have been putting our furniture (we have matching crib and just bought a second changer)through the ringer and really like them.

The exposed wood is as it appears: very nice. Our cherry finish matched the cherry finish of our crib (a Da Vinci product as well, and one I'm very pleased with).

Overall a poor piece of furniture.

The exposed wood is as it appears: very nice. Our cherry finish matched the cherry finish of our crib (a Da Vinci product as well, and one I'm very pleased with).

However, buyer beware. This piece of furniture contains lots of particle board and cheap pine. So not only will you have a difficult time putting it together, you might not get it put together at all. The pieces of wood we received for the drawers are terrible--black spots and cracks abounded. And only two cam bolts hold in the front of the drawers, hardly enough support for these pieces. Because the holes were poorly drilled and the cam locks were bad, I couldn't get two of the three drawers properly assembled. I had to use wood glue just to attach the front. I shouldn't have to do that for $250+.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very bad quality for dresser, April 24, 2007

We bought this dresser because it matched the crib. The shelves are made of cheap wood and broke apart after 2 mo use. The particle board wood side split down the middle and the front panel came apart from one of the shelves. Terrible quality. Would not buy this brand/product again!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap product & very, very bad service, March 12, 2007

I would urge Amazon not to sell this product any longer. Customer service is awful. Our dresser arrived with NO hardware. I had to send six emails over 2 weeks to get the hardware sent to us. (Even after I pdf'd and emailed the seller the instruction sheet, with a note indicating that ALL listed hardware was missing, they were not satisfied and kept asking for more information. It was unbelievably irritating, and they were curt and never apologized.) Also, the dresser arrived in a filthy, old, dented and torn box. The pieces were completely covered in this weird, sticky dust. I had to clean each piece individually, which took more than an hour.

We have the matching crib, which was relatively easy to assemble and is sturdy and attractive. The dresser is cheap and flimsy, and much of it--including the side panels--is made of very low budget particle board with ugly fake wood grain finish. It looks really cheap and ugly. For $249, go to your local discount furniture store.

Amazon: please stop selling this product. I've been a customer for years, and this left a bad taste in my mouth.

2.0 out of 5 stars Time consuming assembly & not lasting, April 16, 2008
By
Only consider this item if you have several hours to devote to assembly. (That's one huge advantage to hand-me-down's-- they are already put together!)

We are having problems with the drawer fronts. We consider ourselves pretty good at furniture assembly-- I've worked in a furniture store assembling floor models and my husband is an architect-- so I think we assembled this correctly but it is not staying put together. So far two of the three drawer fronts have come off while using the product. The first came off after 6 months of use and the second after 10 months. The second time, when the right side of the drawer front pulled away from the drawer, a piece of the left side of the drawer cracked off in response. Because the hardware is fault we've had to use glue to try to put this back together. I doubt it will hold for very long.

I foster babies/children and some are larger than newborns so, we have been putting our furniture (we have matching crib and just bought a second changer)through the ringer and really like them.
I am going to mention a couple of things: First, the directions could be a little better; the parts don't have the labels on them so you don't know if they are part a or b just by looking at the part, but it isn't hard to figure out-just compare the part to the picture that says what all of the parts are. Second, in response to some of the wood quality complaints; Yes, the wood for the drawers are a soft wood, but the directions specifically say NOT to use power drills or you can strip the wood. Use a screwdriver and had no issues with cracks or stripping the wood etc., It was surprisingly easy. The result was a sturdy changing table.

My husband and I received our order very quickly (we also ordered the Emily Crib). The crib and changer look great together. The quality of the changer isn't the best but for the price I think it is good. There is a lot of MDF-type material used for the dresser-the 2 sides, back and drawer bottoms. However, it is sturdy and will definately stylishly serve it's purpose.

It's pricey but great quality and sturdy. Looks great in the nursery. Installation was a bit of a pain and requires 2 people. All in all a good buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars great dresser, July 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this DaVinci Dresser/Changer in cherry, after reading every review I could find, about this and other comparable dressers and changing tables over and over to find the best one.
I must say, I'm really happy with it.
I bought it with the 4-1 emily crib both for 490$ at [...].
I recieved them in perfect condition. My husband put it together by himself in about 2 hours, I watched, if you just follow the instructions even if it doesn't seem to make sense at first, you'll be fine.
I'm using it now for almost 4 months, and it's great. it's higher than most other changingtables, which is good for your back( I'm 1.63m tall), the rails give some extra protaction agains rolling off.
The changingpad seems perhaps thin in comparrison with the regular ones, but it is thick enough and feels comfortable. You don't need to buy another pad. My babygirl really loves laying on it. I use a softtowel as a cover. She often falls asleep while I'm changing her or clipping her nails or something.
The drawers are sliding smooth, and hold up diapers, cloths, blankets, towels. it's just perfect. ofcours you shouldn't open the drawers using one nob( like I often do) because the the drawer slides a bit square and it scrathes the dresser.
If you asemble it right it is very sturdy, even though it's not completely made of wood. It has some scratches but still is beautiful..I don't wear cloths with a belt or jewels because of the baby.
bottom line: I'm happy with the buy and really think you will too.

Update:
My girl is now almost 7 months old... I still love the dresser. It's still beautifull, I noticed that the bottom of the drawers are a bit bend in the centre, but I really put alot in them, and it doesn't effect the functionality.
I noticed that most changing pads are a lot shorter than this one and I am really happy with mine. My girl still fits on it with room to spare for things like babyoil etc. she's about 65cm tall, weights 8.3 kg.
I can't imagine not having this dresser... It's well worth the money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality, November 1, 2008
By
We had to buy this in a hurry because the product we had wanted (and ordered from Amazon) suddenly became unavailable. What a poor choice! The back panel is not even the right _size_, so there's a gaping hole in the back of the dresser. Tells you a lot about the manufacturer's quality control. The whole thing feels flimsy and cheap. I'd be worried about putting a baby on top of it, it feels ready to fall apart at any minute. My husband put a dent into this thing with his _nail_ -- exactly what is it made out of?? I wish I had known that it was made of this kind of cheap stuff, it certainly shouldn't be for the price of it. Bottom line -- waste of money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Fell apart after 4 months, August 3, 2008
We bought this changer for our son, who is now 16 months old. We had no problems with the delivery or the assembly. I loved it until I actually started using it. The drawer bottoms are very flimsy and the sides of the drawers are made of VERY soft wood. Two of the 3 drawers cracked and were unusable after four months. The fronts of the drawers kept pulling off. We continued to use just the changing table part for another 6 months or so (we glued on the drawer fronts so it looked presentable, even if it wasn't functional)until we could move our older daughter's $99 K-Mart dresser into our son's room. Funny how the cheap K-Mart dresser lasted MUCH longer than this one. DO NOT BUY THIS...
