our baby is not born at the time of this review, however everything went together really well. for the most part.
here are my view points 1. my 8 month pregnant wife put this together on her own, (i was at work and she was bored) with no problem. 2. everything fit just right, she said that she had to pull it back apart a couple times, she didnt realized a piece was on backwards till 3 steps later. otherwise good. 3. this item is about as sturdy as any item of this kind and cost. we have a similar built changing table, if you put your weight on it it might go through the flooring of it. but a baby is of no concern to it. 4. the only bad in the construction of the cradle was the wheels. they are good wheels. smooth easy to roll etc.. but they are covered in plastic at the top. this plastic top is what wedges them into the wood of the cradle. either the wheels were a size to small, or the wood was drilled to big. either way they fell out if you picked up the cradle. so i just wrapped a few (2-3) layers of masking tape on the top of the plastic and problem solved. over all im very happy, i only gave it a 4 because i was unimpressed with the shotty drill holes for the wheels. EDIT: our baby is 2 months old. and still in this cradle. very sturdy and it is holding up very well. HOWEVER since the legs are held together by one long piece of wood, and then the cradle, it sometimes "tweaks" when you try to roll the cradle. this causes you to walk to the other side to move it some more. i believe it is meant to be pushed long ways not sideways. especially on carpet. another note is that 2 wheels have locks built in, unless you have an angled wood floor or a ton of kids that like to push things this is unnecessary. and the wheels sometimes lock randomly. i dont know if the wheels moving lock them, or if we bump them with our feet. needless to say its a nuisance. i still rate it a 4.

This is a decent product, but it seems a tad overpriced for the actual quality. It's easy to assemble, that's a plus, but it's not exactly going to wow you with its sturdiness. While I understand that it's supposed to hold an infant, a little more rigidity would be nice. I don't like the way the legs seem to wobble a bit when you rock the cradle. The alignment seems a little bit off, too - the sleeping area and the legs are slightly skewed.
You will want to replace the flimsy mattress that comes with it, too. It does seem adequately safe, and my child sleeps fine in it. Also, it's a nice look - a modern take on a classic idea, and that's well-accomplished with this design, so there are good points, too. If it were cheaper, I would rate this higher, because it's not bad, but for the flaws it has, it shouldn't cost as much as it does.

I received the cherry cradle today and am very pleased! It was purchased off of my registry and arrived quickly. I assembled it in less than a half an hour and found it to be very easy. It didn't scratch during assembly and the instructions were very straight forward. I also have a DaVinci Crib in the same color and they are a perfect match. I am looking forward to using it with our son when he is born. The only downfall is the pad that comes with it. The people who purchased the cradle didn't realize that it came with a pad and bought a seperate one and I am glad. I wouldn't have used the pad that came with it, it's way too thin and flimsy. Other than that, very happy with the product.

DaVinci Futura Cradle - LOVE IT!,

Love the style and size of the cradle -- fits an 18 x 36 standard cradle size mattress. It came with a very thin/flimsy 1-inch vinyl lined foam mattress. But, I expected that it would be flimsy because of the thickness (1-inch) and ordered an additional (18 x 36, 2-inch thickness) mattress to use along with the other. Both mattresses fit in the cradle nicely. FYI - This cradle fits a cradle bumper of 108 inches (in length). NOW we're just waiting for our little one to arrive (due 2-1-2011)!

This was easy to assemble, but once done, it's a little flimsier than most. A selling point of this bassinet is that it's portable but once you scoot it from one room to another more than a few times, the legs get a little wobbly.
Also, the "pin" that is supposed to keep the cradle in place falls out too easily, and catches against the wood, which of course scratches it. Another time, the pin goes in, but the pin is so thin that the cradle moves about. So if baby rolls to the side, he will be on a slight incline, which may wake him up because the pin comes out so easily and is the wrong girth. Also, my son got his foot stuck through the slats.

This product is not recommended for purchase. The piece we bought broke while assembling. The bottom board is very thin almost as thin as a clipboard. The mattress that comes with it very thin and the manufacturer doesn't recommend a heavier mattress because the bottom board is so thin.
The paint chips very easily. I think in a few weeks the cradle will appear very used. We returned the item, as it broke right away. Amazon has a good return policy and we were refunded our full amount. Amazon paid for return shipping. But we still had to undergo the hassel of repacking and taking it to UPS.

Baby has not arrived yet, but we are happy with our purchase. Arrived in great shape and assembly was easy. The wheels can go on a little tough, but using a small amount of liquid detergent seems to do the trick. Many reviews stated that the cradle is flimsy. It does move around a bit if you shake it, but no more than any other bassinet or cradle that I have seen. You will need to purchase a thicker mattress as the one that comes with it is just too thin (I was able to pick up a 2" pad on amazon that fits perfect). The cradle is a bit bigger than I anticipated, but that is not a bad thing. And it is very easy to move from room to room.

This is a great cradle. We are very happy with it. I would have given it 5 stars, however the pad it comes with isn't very substantial. We ordered an additional pad which is much better. It's still firm, but much better padding. The cradle rolls nicely, and the option to have the cradle rock or lock it firmly in place with a simple pin is very handy. I would highly recommend this product.

The cradle arrived and was easy enough to assemble. The pad which comes with the crib is by no means adequate to support a baby. You will need to buy a cradle sized mattress. Also, the wheels do not stay within their sockets, and the cradle is difficult to roll around on the carpet. This is not a high quality product. I am going to try it out when baby arrives, but I would not purchase this item again, having seen it. I hope to be pleasantly surprised. The cradle is attractive.

This is not worth the price. It feels extremely unstable after assembly. Very delicate item and not very handy.
