I just spent the last few days corresponding with a representative from Million Dollar Baby (the crib manufacturer). Daniel, the customer service representative really went out of his way to address my concerns and questions about the crib. So for all of you parents out there looking for an affordable green crib, here's what I found out.

1. The Jenny Lind crib is made of all solid wood (except for the models with a drawer which has an mdf panel). The wood is New Zealand Pine which is sustainably grown and forested in New Zealand.

2. The crib is made in Taiwan.

3. The glue used to adhere the crib slats is formaldehyde free, is water-based and non-toxic.

3. The finish on the crib -- here is a direct quote from the company -- "For all of our paints and finishes we use a non toxic sealer with lacquer. Our paint is ultra-safe. We exceed JPMA regulations and go through annual paint tests. Paint is called safe when it has toxic materials under 300 parts per million [ppm]. For a company to claim low toxicity means they have paint with toxicity below 90 ppm. Here at Million Dollar Baby, our paint levels come in at less than 2 ppm." -- Just to give you a comparison, Benjamin Moore Eco Spec paint which is LEED certified and has a toxicity level of .1 ppm. So although the finish on the crib is not that low, it is still very, very, very good.

4. Million Dollar Baby was willing to sell me an unfinished crib to help allay my fears about off-gassing -- which really impressed me. However after the $189 crib price tag, the $103 shipping cost and the exorbitant amount of money/hassle to get the crib painted or do it ourselves, we started to wonder if we were going overboard.

I didn't want to spend a ton on a crib. After researching I came to the Jenny Lind White Crib. My husband got it together in 15 minutes. I didn't end up using the wheels which is what I intended to do anyway. Some reviewers mentioned the caution tape and there is a lot but one you get it put togther, put a crib skirt on and the mattress, you don't even see the stickers so that didn't bother me. The crib is cute and I think it's a great price! Can't wait for baby to get here!

update: I noticed the stickers last night haha! I think just some warm water on it and it'll come right off. Anyway, it's not really a big deal to me and it should come off.

This crib is adorable. I've seen it in many high-end design publications in the various colors as well as white. It's a really versatile look -- it could go well in a traditional, vintage, or a modern nursery. Some people dislike the gold wheels but I don't mind them. My daughter's nursery is mainly white with a bunch of texture (sheepskin rug, some ruffles, linen, etc.) and gold accents, like a gold Moroccan pouf and a gold crown light fixture. The gold wheels are very shiny and brassy--by no means are these antique gold--but I don't mind them, and I really like that I can easily wheel the crib around when I need to change the sheet.

The crib has four notches for the mattress height. My daughter's been in the crib for about 3 months (she is now 7 months old, 21 lbs and about 28 inches) and she's just recently moved down one notch. My husband easily moved the mattress down one notch with the assistance of an allen wrench. The crib was also very simple for him to put together.

I know there's a lot out there about the risk of buying cribs made in China and the toxicity of paint used on cribs, but I spent some time on Google looking into this crib and I felt confident that my daughter would be safe in this, though I did let it air out for around 10 months before putting her in it. And I'm one of those organic-baby-food-buying, glass-bottle-using, chemical-avoiding, generally overly anxious first-time moms.

Love this crib, very easy to set up and seems very sturdy. Only issue we had was some scratches on one of the spindles, which were painted over, so obviously there was an issue during the manufacturing. I wish we had looked over all of the parts before we built it otherwise I would have exchanged it for a new crib without the scratches, but we're just going to put that side facing the wall.

This is a wonderful crib, my son enjoys very comfortable sleep. It is light and easy to move on the wheels which is great for cleaning under his bed and for storing things in the bins I have under there. It appears to be more expensive than it is, it is solid and sturdy. You can tell it will last a long time.

I bought this crib because of the style and all the positive reviews. But within 6 months discovered that it is NOT SAFE. I heard a crash, then loud, panicked crying. The small, thin metal piece holding the base of the crib to the railing literally BROKE in half, causing the base to fall to the floor. My toddler was trapped underneath between the bottom rail and the crib base. I can't believe they would use such low quality materials for a crib - particularly one that is meant to be converted to a toddler bed (it should be designed for many years of use). I'm disgusted with this company. I should have paid more attention to red flags I saw a few months ago when the paint began bubbling up and flaking off. (By the way, I contacted the company about this, and when I didn't hear back tried again, and received a curt reply: "Frankly, I would have called you if you had included your phone number," rather than simply asking for my number.) As another reviewer said, it's unfortunate that the wheels don't lock. My child learned he was able to scoot the crib simply by holding the railing and wiggling his body, and all the scooting actually caused the screws to come loose. (As another reviewer said, something that could be prevented by including some washers.) This crib looks good, but beware the safety issues.
