Our baby sleeps in the room with us, and this crib works well in our small bedroom. It's aesthetically pleasing, sturdy, and easy-to-assemble. For the price, it's hard to beat. Also, from the perspective of safety, it's reassuring that Million Dollar Baby (which owns Da Vinci) has never had a crib recall -- that's according to the new edition of Baby Bargains. (Great book, by the way.)

The so-called "mattress" that comes with this crib is useless, however. It's made of cheap foam and is barely an inch thick. You will definitely have to buy a mattress separately. We chose the MDB Crescent Mini Crib Mattress, which we like.

(Just FYI: If you're planning to attach a mobile, this crib works fine with the Tiny Love mobiles. Some cribs have non-standard side rail widths, which makes it difficult to securely attach a mobile to them.)

A last note: if you and your partner are tall people, this may not be the crib for you... your tall baby will probably outgrow it very fast! In our case, that's not a problem. Our little one is in the 30th percentile for height, and this crib is working out fine.

UPDATE: our baby lasted in this crib until the age of 11.5 months. at that point, we bought a full-size IKEA crib!

This came with clear directions, was fairly easy to put together, and seems very sturdy, although I wouldn't let my 3 year old jump in it. I'm 8 months pregnant (and not "steven" but the other parent in the household) and I put it together in an afternoon with some light assistance from my three year old. It fits perfectly into our small apartment - right next to our bed - and is really quite big. If this baby grows anything like my older one, I'm expecting to get up to two years out of it. As it is, my 3 year old tested it out and found it quite cozy - but she is on the smaller side and likes to ball up. At any rate, this was a better buy for us than a bassinet or pack n play. A bassinet or cosleeper would fit in our space but has no longevity, and a pack n play is just not comfortable, in my opinion, for a sleeping baby or for me to bend over. (I'm 5'7" and my boyfriend is 5'11".) I also think it would be possible to leave the front panel off if for some reason you wanted to do that. I had it assembled with the back, sides, and bottom panel and it was sturdy like that too. This is a great way to have a real crib in a small space for very little cost. Oh, and it's adorable.

We got the Dream on Me 3" mattress to put in this and it fits snugly. I recommend the Circo pack n play sheets from Target to go on the mattress - they're a perfect fit and only $10 for a set of two.

I like the crib, but was very disappointed that the mattress came with a California warning stating it has carcinogens as well as can cause reproductive harm and birth defects. I still think the crib is worth it without the pad and the pad is considered "safe" by many states standards, but I will not use it. This really needed to be stated in the description so people could consider that when purchasing it.

1 hint for putting it together I wish I had thought of: To avoid scratches when attaching the bottom piece where the mattress sits, I wish I had covered the screws with bandaids and then removed them when it was attached.

Cute, sturdy crib that is the perfect size for small spaces.

I bought this mini-crib for our fourth baby. The crib went together really easily and the directions were clear enough. This crib also comes with a "mattress" which I didn't know. However, the "mattress" that comes with it is only 1" thick. I bought a 3" thick mattress to go with it, and am very happy I did.
The color of the crib surprised me a bit. The description said "honey oak" but the crib looks more like pine. It was much lighter than I anticipated. (I just assumed it would be a bit darker than what was pictured, since it said "oak". However, the crib is exactly the color that is in the picture. I really shouldn't have been so surprised, since it is exactly as pictured.)
Also, the mattress support on this crib is not like that of a traditional crib. I was a little disappointed in that, because the mattress support does not seem very substantial and I am pretty sure it won't hold up as well as a traditional size crib. The mattress support on this mini-crib is a flat support- a thin board boxed in with wood. The thin board does make me a bit nervous about the durability. I doubt this crib will get much use past 9 months for that reason.

We live in a condo and have a smaller room for a nursery. The size of this mini crib is just perfect! The installation was straight forward and not too difficult. You may need two people for installation when you set up the mattress board though. Pay close attention to not using a power drill during installation. This crib has 4 height level for the mattress which I think most crib should have but don't quote me on it. It just makes sense to have that option. The instruction will tell you to install the mattress board at the lowest level which is the opposite of what you want because you don't want to bend down too far to pick up your newborn, so install the board at the highest level. The mattress pad that comes with it is basically a foam mat wrapped with plastic, just bad news all around. Do your baby a favor and buy it a real mattress. Make sure to stick within the measurement when selecting a mattress. The only thing I'm disappointed about is that it does not come with the rails to transform this crib into a bed frame. You will have to pay some $100 in addition for the rails, that is if you decide to turn it into a bed. After a few years, most parents will probably get their 2 year old a theme bed frame anyways. Overall, size was great, look was decent and feel was sturdy.
