You can even play this game solo, as it is always a fun challenge to see what words you can come up with.

A simple "fast thinking word game," "Dabble," entertains the whole family. Each player is given 20 word tiles and a graduated bleacher on which to place a word of two, three, four, five and six letters in just five minutes. Play may take several timed rounds to declare a winner, or in my case, an especially adept word master friend got it on the first try! The winner earns points from the value of the tiles left unused by his opponents. This is a game that can be enjoyed at many levels--competitive adults, families, younger kids with an option to limit the length of words required and even teams. A suggested adaptation gives bonus points for forming words within a pre-selected category such as clothing, food, or house objects. Categories up the level of play but also add language learning value as players have to formulate words while thinking within a category. Lots of conversation ensued explaining strategy. One mom suggested her kids start with the longest word. A dad was methodical in grouping vowels along the center and lining up common beginning and ending consonants to draw his words from. Building vocabulary, language. literacy and thinking skills, "Dabble" makes learning fun!

I just recently bought this game for our family game night. I have elementary school aged children who love to play games. This game delivers what it promises. The instructions are easy, it is fast paced and I have seen an improvement in my children's spelling abilities already. Love it! We also played with our neighbors for a get together and had a lot of fun playing it. The best thing about the game is that it is fun for all ages. If you are a Scrabble or Bananagrams lover, you have to give this a try!

Bought it for my granddaughter's 8th birthday; we have all played, parents, grandparents, kids, and it's challenging but fun since the timer pressures all of us to be good problem solvers, but second chances after trading in useless tiles helps.

I ran into this game at Gencon this year (2011).
This game is a fast paced blast.
I am a Fire Fighter and everyday after we get our morning duties done we grab some breakfast (wait for our next emergent run)and race to complete the daily paper crossword.
This game offers an amazing and refreshing change from that pace.
The game will hold our attention for years to come plus we cant wait to crush the probationary Fire Fighters as they come to shift (BIG SMIRK and GIGGLE).
Truly fun game.
The company has fantastic customer service. (I messed up my pickup at Gencon and they shipped it to me like the next day after contact with nothing but the best attitude about it)
TOP NOTCH PRODUCT - TOP NOTCH CUSTOMER SEVICE.
Oh and read a little history about the gentleman that invented the concept and you will love it that much more.
Hope the team keeps creating this sorta product / sevice and I will continue to consume.

Tried this game with several experienced word gamers. It's a lot of fun and a good challenge. Each player gets 20 tiles and tries to create a 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6-letter word. There's a good distribution of tiles so you don't often get stuck with, say, all vowels or all consonants. There's plenty of pressure to be the first to complete your rack of words followed by plenty of, more relaxing, time to finish before the timer. Really experienced word gamers might want to decrease the time for completion to increase the urgency to finish. The tiles are a little slick and can be difficult to handle but that's a tiny little issue compared to how good this game is.

After playing Dabble last week for the first time, it's already secured a spot in my top games list.

Sure, it's educational. But so are most other word games. What makes Dabble a great game is that:
* It's easy to learn
* It's fast-paced
* Everyone plays at the same time (it's not turn-based)
* It's fun!

(Others have mentioned that it's great to play Dabble with kids. I just want to make sure it's clear that Dabble is also a great game for adults to play with other adults.)

When I play a game, I'm not generally very interested in super strategic games that take hours to play. Dabble is the perfect game if you are looking for a fun, challenging, slightly competitive game that takes just a few minutes per round to play. My husband and I sat down for a game of Dabble on a Sunday evening after we'd put the kids to bed. Though there were quite a few rules, they are all quite simple and are picked up very quickly. We each began by drawing 20 letter tiles out of a bag. We flipped the timer over and got to work. I was surprised at how challenging the game was. I very quickly spelled my 6, 5, 4, and 3 letter words, but was left with 2 misfit letters at the end. I worked frantically to find way to switch around my words so I could make my blasted two letter word! Time ran out before The Husband or I were able to finish our words so we exchanged a few of our unused tiles and set off to complete our words in round 2. Well, we both finished, but the hubs totally kicked my trash with his word score (scored similar to scrabble, just without any of the score multipliers).
Dabble is recommended for ages 10+. If you have school aged kids this would be an awesome game to have! It enhances learning and reading at all levels and is ideal for building vocabulary, spelling and quick-thinking skills.

P.S. This is also a great game to play with friends!
