  • Unlock badges based on your accomplishments

Product Description

Dabble is an award-winning word game perfect for all ages. At the core of the game lies a fast-paced word game that rewards a large vocabulary, perfect spelling, and quick thinking. This HD edition of the app is specifically optimized for a broad variety of Android tablets and phones.

To play, simply take 20 letters and from them make five words. Easy, right? The catch is that you must make one of each of these: a two-letter, three-letter, four-letter, five-letter, and six-letter word. The point value is determined by the letters you use in each one.

Don't take too long to do it, though: You must complete all the words within a certain amount of time or it's game over. If your time runs out, don't despair; you still get points for the words you managed to form. As you improve you can earn badges for various accomplishments.

AWARDS
Dabble has piled up awards from experts including the:

* Kotaku Gaming App of the Day
* Corona Labs App of the Month

2.0 out of 5 stars Why is it 18+MB? November 28, 2011

Well when I saw yuletide7 review it made me wander, what is in this app? So I looked...
1. Adware: AdKnowledge, InMobi and Inneractive.
2. Analytics: Flurry
3. Developer Tools: Corona, Facebook and Zong.
4. Social Gaming: OpenFeint and Papaya Social.

That's alot of stuff for something that is a paid app.
The game itself is good, I would give it 4* if it wasn't for the Adware and Analytics. If something is paid for these things shouldn't be in the app.
The way I see it, is if you pay for something it should be Adware and Analytic FREE. As long as all of us let them get away with this they'll keep doing it.
It use to be the norm on PC's till enough people stood up and said BOYCOTT these devs with shady/lazy practices. It's your privacy, so how much you put up with is your own personal decision. Just remember nothing is really free on the internet, except debugging apps for the devs. Otherwise there's usually a surprise like adware and or analytics.
I'm not a paranoid privacy nut, I just like a level playing field for people who are not tech/program savy. Their usually the biggest victims because their not very informed about shady practices.
I will try to evaluate apps here for adware and analytics, plus any toys they may have left in the app, but I'm a busy guy. So I won't have time to look at faotd everyday.
If you wonder how I look at these apps, I have a Linux computer I write programs on. The Android OS is a form of Linux.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beware.... December 10, 2011

This game is lots of fun. If you like word games you'll really enjoy this one. However, I've been compelled to write my first review to warn people that after downloading this game your phone may begin to behave erraticly. My battery life decreased significantly. I noticed when attempting to uninstall other apps, the data began to flicker and I had to press the uninstall button several times. I eventually uninstalled this app and right after I could not access my alarm clock. I had to perform a factory reset. Maybe just an isolated incident, who knows. HTC Droid Incredible 2.

2.0 out of 5 stars 4 for the game 0 for the Privacy Invasion November 24, 2012

Another game I really like, but it's those darn permissions. it reads phone state and identity... why? It also has full internet access, again why?

I love word games, and this one has an interesting twist. You are given a collection of letters from which you need to form one six, one five, one four, one three and one two letter word. Each tile is given a value ala Scrabble. The sum of the tiles is then multiplied by the word length to arrive at a final total score. You are given five minutes to solve the puzzle. Each second of unused time is worth one point. It also has an option to see the solution.

I like the fact that it can be moved to the SD card.

I wish devs would stop with these permissions. They are not necessary and again while I really like this game I would never buy it because of them.

To those who have a low tolerance for people whose opinion differ from yours, name calling and accusations of ignorance are unlikely to change any minds.

3.0 out of 5 stars all words please January 11, 2012

Fun to play most of the time, but there are some commonly spelled words that it won't accept. Reconsider what dictionary should be used, maybe this rating will be upgraded.

Once again, older reviews are no longer applicable to this game.

Minimal Permissions - only network access, yet does run OFFLINE.

Code is minimal as well - does have Flurry Analytics, but in this case, it is strictly limited to the anonymous reporting of app performance since there are no other permissions or code issues feeding into it. No ad modules or other such fluff are present.

Total install at 33MBs, and I was able to move it to my Internal USB Storage, leaving 5MB on the Device Memory. The back-key does exit cleanly... from any screen. So be careful hitting that back-key during game play! Otherwise, you'll end up losing your current game. :(

Pleasant music, good touch/swipe interaction, and the solutions for each really are open ended. Instead of relying on a pre-programmed solution or a sloppy dictionary-based recognition program that lock in choices (like a great many of these Scrabble-esque puzzlers do), DABBLE seamlessly integrates the word recognition per line solved yet allowing letters to be moved from those lines if needed - I went through four different two letter words and two different four letter words before I finally solved the whole thing. Flexible, fluid and fun. :)

Sounds fun but I didn't install because of unnecessary permissions. It's time to stand up to developers using games as "legitimate" malware.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good game, AWFUL permissions July 23, 2013
Verified Purchase
I got this in March as a FAOTD. It is repeating as a FAOTD in July 2013. In both cases, the app has permissions that allow the phone to be always searching the internet. This makes the battery die quickly! Additionally, I'm not sure what info keeps getting uploaded from my phone. I decided the game is just not worth my privacy so I have deleted it.
