3.0 out of 5 stars Works right after the shower!
I use a small amount on my towel dried hair after I get out of the shower. I have naturally curly, hard to manage hair but with this product, I could get out of the shower and leave my hair down without adding any other products to it. I love it! I like that it came in a pack of two because I will definitely be using the 2nd bottle. The bottle instructions says to leave...

This has to be one of the greatest hair products Ive found.. I am a natural hair stylist of many years and I use this oil on many of my natural clients. It also works on relaxed hair but not as well. The ppl that have written bad reviews for this product may not have knowledge of natural oils or how to use them. This product does not smell like something you would find in a typical beauty store, mainly because it is a NATURAL product and not filled with ingredients that are placed in many of those cheap hair growth-stunting products. To get the best results from this product, use it on damp hair. If used on dry hair, use only a very small amount This products is a very lightweight oil and I use it on my own hair and it adds a brilliant shine..I also use it on my son to twist his hair after washing and it provides great manageability and softens his hair a lot. The oil is solid when u receive it but u can just put it in a cup of warm water for a few moments or microwave it for about 15 seconds. I hope my review can help someone else out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome surprise!, September 18, 2008

I've been using this product for a month now and I received a great surprise. This product actually darkened my grays and greatly reduced the amount of visible gray hair. It does contain henna, so now I can hide my grays without having to buy hair dyes anymore. A little goes a long way! Great value for the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars It works, May 19, 2008
This review is from: Dabur Vatika Coconut Hair Oil 150ml (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
I use this as a scalp oil and it does leave my hair a lot softer. As far as making my hair thicker, Im not sure, my hair has always been thick so I can't really vouch for that. It has a pleasant smell, it kind of smells like a coconut pastry, if you do not like coconut or REALLY sweeet smells than I would not recommend this, it is quite strong. Im vegan but this product is only vegetarian. I did not realize that this had milk in it so when Im done with the last two bottles I will not be buying again. Still a really good scalp oil, it can also be used when flat ironing hair. It leaves a really nice subtle shine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Love Love, February 2, 2011
This review is from: Dabur Vatika Coconut Hair Oil 150ml (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
I absolutely LOVE this product. I have long, thick hair with a slight wave. It has been a nightmare taking care of it especially since we have hard water issue in our house. It was always frizzy and unmanageable. I would drown it in conditioners but it never lasted. I even considered ovation therapy but instead i started doing some research and came across coconut oil. Ordered right away, made some mistakes in using it, figured out what works best on my head and now, i wish i had a pool of it so i could just marinate in it.
It does solidify but it's easy to melt in some hot water. It's clear (unlike let's say Moroccan oil) and thus can be used by blonds and not color their hair orange. It does have a slight odor, but it's pleasant and airs out of my hair pretty quickly. On my first try i put on a ton and didn't wash it out. I then did a hot towel treatment (heat wet towel in a microwave, wrap around your hair until it cools, repeat). Then i left it on overnight. Next day i washed with my regular shampoo (do try shampoos that are clear of chemicals, sulfurs and perfumes = they all dry hair out) and then conditioner. I don't blow dry my hair, it's too thick and long and i can't do it by myself, so i just let it air dry half way and then roll it into a bun (or 2, like princess Leah) and let it dry completely that way. When it is fully dry, i let it go and it's amazingly shiny, no frizz, and perfect wave. My hair is now soft to the touch, doesn't brake easily and doesn't shed as much as it used to. I love it. Also, my daughters are inter-racial, and both have very different texture to their hair, i started using coconut oil on them and it has softened their hair and now their curls aren't as frizzy.
Overall = amazing product, so inexpensive and so natural! Buy it and use it!

I did it.

I tried this stuff on my hair and my partner's hair just to see if the hype was warranted. I have locs and when I mixed this oil with my typical hempseed/plain coconut oil blend, it was like putting octane in a car. My locs were super soft, roots were wavy and my scalp drank its' fill! Dandruff? What dandruff? This stuff and henna will make dandruff a distant memory. My scalp is always tingling, so methinks the Vatika is working its' magic.

The real test was with my partner. He has coarse, angry biracial hair that can never be tamed and is always stupidly brillo like. I slapped this stuff on his head, as he howled in protest, put it in a braid and sent him on his way. He came to me this morning with his hair down and he looked like a different person! His hair was wavy, curly and after he shampooed, he had huge ringlets! His brush had very little broken hair.

0_0 Say. Whut.

Ladies and gents, I don't know what kind of hair magic they do in India, but I'm giving credit where credit is due; if you've had a bad hair day for most of your life, get this stuff by the case. It's magic, I tellz ya. Magic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great hair oil, April 13, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dabur Vatika Coconut Hair Oil 150ml (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
The oil is wonderful, but someone buying it should know. It comes solid. I live in the Eastern part of the USA and I ordered and recieved this product in December of 09. It is now April 2010 and the product has not "thawed" out. So I thought people should know- the quality is great- has a light scent somewhat a pleasant lemon scent- NOT like furniture polish at all. The oil texture is light, a olive oil appearance and slight olive oil texture. Since the day I recieved this product I have had to place the container in hot tap water for about five minutes. The product should be fully melted in that time. It does return to a solid state once cooled. I am sure in warmer climates or seasons it would be fully liquid. Like I stated, it is 4-2010 and it is still in solid form. The oil has various herbal ingredients with a fresh lite smell
You get two containers- small- but the oil is great quality. Good for ethnic hair mainly or a very small amount on other hair types. I hope this helps!

5.0 out of 5 stars great stuff, May 2, 2011
This review is from: Dabur Vatika Coconut Hair Oil 150ml (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
i have been using coconut oil on my hair for a long time but this stuff is like coconut oil on steroids. for the past few years my hairline has been receding. my mother and grandmother also had receding hairlines so i thought that would also be my fate. after using this oil for a few months, i noticed my hairline growing back. i almost have the hairline of my youth. i used to wear a glue in weave and the glue removal left my hair broken and thinning. my hair was so damaged that i had to do " the big chop." i decided to go natural after that. i find my hair is much thicker now and really strong. i will still use coconut oil on my skin but i will use vatika on my hair.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you have fine hair, please read...., May 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dabur Vatika Coconut Hair Oil 150ml (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
I really wanted to try this because of all the great reviews. I have very fine hair and since I use natural shampoos, it can be a little on the dry side. So, I purchased this wonderful coconut hair oil to help. I should have tried it out on the weekend to make sure the effect if would have on my hair. Needless to say, I didn't..... so before I left for work one day, I washed my hair and put this oil on, then let it sit for a few minutes before I washed it out. Then I went to work, letting my hair dry naturally (I don't ever blow dry my hair). But, it never dried...actually, it was saturated with oil still even though I washed it out. Thank goodness I never put conditioner on the top part of my hair, only from the crown down. Otherwise it would have been so much worse! I took an early lunch to run home and shampoo my hair again. Thank goodness I don't live very far from my job! It felt so disgusting and oily! The girls at work thought it was pretty funny, and I had to laugh, too. It was seriously oily!!! So, after I washed my hair with shampoo, (I obviously didn't condition again!), I sat in front of my fan to read and let my hair dry. After it dried, my lunch break over, I headed back to work with nice clean hair. I was really impressed with how shiny and soft my hair was after it dried, especially because I didn't condition it after washing it again. Normally, I always have to condition, otherwise my hair is a tangled mess. But, I didn't want to chance having greasy hair still, so I took my chances. So, please learn from my mistake....if you have fine hair this is what I recommend... Wash your hair, then apply this coconut oil and let it sit for a few minutes, then shampoo your hair again.... and let dry. And you will hopefully have wonderful soft and shiny hair like I did. I am very pleased with this product, after finding a way for it to work for me. I highly recommend it!

So far, this product has been great. My scalp was very dry, and this has been the first product to make a noticeable difference after just a couple of applications. It smells good also.

The biggest issue with the product is, as other reviewers have noted, is that it turns into a solid. Before you use it, you have to put the bottle in a bowl of hot water for about 5-10 minutes.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE this oil!, February 11, 2011
By
A.White (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dabur Vatika Coconut Hair Oil 150ml (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
I use a variety of oils on my hair and this one is definitely a favorite of mine. I love coconut oil, so the fact that this product is a combination of that and other great oils/ingredients convinced me to buy it. (I'd been hearing a lot of good things about this product as well). I have long, thick, relaxed hair, and I use about a quarter-sized amount on my entire head of hair after moisturizing. It makes my hair very soft, shiny, and manageable! I am on the fence about whether or not I like it better than plain coconut oil, but it is at least just as good! I was a little afraid of how it would smell since I'd been reading generally negative remarks about the smell, but I actually like it. It smells lemony, with a hint of coconut. The lemony smell makes it smell a bit like a cleaning product, though, but it doesn't bother me.

The only thing I don't like about this product is the packaging. There is a hole in the top of the bottle (you need to puncture it in order to make the hole) that you have to pour it out of. The oil comes out quickly, which means that it's easy to pour out more than you need. It also gets pretty messy because what didn't go into your hand after you're done pouring will leak down the side of the bottle (this is also a waste of oil!). Additionally, I live in Chicago and it's winter, so I have to heat this bottle up every time I want to use it because the coconut oil solidifies in cold temperatures. A jar would be a much more appropriate container for a coconut oil-based product.

Here are the ingredients, for those interested: Coconut Oil, Neem, Brahmi, Fruit extracts of Amla, Bahera and Harar, Kapur Kachri, Henna, Milk, Rosemary Oil, Lemon Oil, TBHQ (t-butyl hydroquinone), Fragrance.
