5.0 out of 5 stars Vatika Oil May Help Me Decide to Go Natural
I have a relaxer that is growing out. When I put this oil on my hair and tie it down with a silk scarf over night, my new growth is soft and wavy almost straight! I can't believe how soft this oil makes my hair. After I shampoo and before I blowdry I use this oil to seal my leave in conditoner. It give me incredible shine and is not heavy in the slightest bit...

3.0 out of 5 stars Um.....what is that smell??
Ok, the title of my review is meant to be a joke. I know that the smell of this product comes from its blend of ingredients. However, I can't stand it and therefore will not use it again. I felt like I was asleep in the fridge and was smelling the weird combination of scents inside of it (like when you leave food uncovered and it gets that odd fridge taste from absorbing...

I'm in love!! I'm going to buy this oil by the case...and to think, I bought it months ago and I was sleeping on it! It's a winner all the way around.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Product, Bad Odor, December 1, 2008
This review is from: Dabur Vatika Hair Oil 300ml (Pack of 2 Bottles) (Health and Beauty)
I bought a bottle of Dabur Vatika Hair oil on a whim when the local Indian grocery first opened up about two months ago. I have very long straight hair with a very fine texture, so I am always looking for ways to increase the moisture content, and strengthen the strands of my fine fragile hair. I use this oil as a pre wash hot oil treatment about two to three times a week before I shampoo. I heat a cup of water in the microwave for about a minute or so, put the bottle in it for about three minutes to liquefy. I then apply the oil heavily to my scalp, and to the first few inches of hair. I then clip it up out of the way, cover with a shower cap, and leave on anywhere from a half hour to overnight, washing it out with shampoo, and following with conditioner. This product has done wonders for my hair- my flaky scalp and dandruff has lessened, due to the lemon and neem, it is shinier, due to the henna, and the amla extract seem to have strengthened the roots of my hair. I used to have horrible shedding in the shower, which is down to a fraction of what it was two months ago. The reason why I gave this oil a four star rating was because of the weird smell, which I think is due to the neem and amla. It kinda smells like lemons and coconuts, but not really, and the longer you leave it on your hair, the worse it gets. This product also contains milk (and soy extracts in the reformulated oil, which I have not tried) so if your hair reacts badly to products containing too much protein you might want to skip it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vatika Oil is the best, November 21, 2007
This review is from: Dabur Vatika Hair Oil 300ml (Pack of 2 Bottles) (Health and Beauty)
Ooooohhhh, this is the best oil I have ever used on my hair. It makes my hair amazingly soft to the touch and it has a really nice coconut smell - not over powering but gentle and pleasant. I would recommend everyone who uses oils as carrier oils to use this one. You will love it too.

I have not noticed a significant amount of hair growth with this product, but it is a good source of moisture. The smell is not unpleasant and a little goes a long way. I would buy this again.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT STUFF, November 16, 2009

As an African-American woman with dry, coarse, relaxed hair (think 4b), I love coconut oil. Along with a handful of other plant oils, coconut oil is closest to the sebum produced by our skin so it's more readily absorbed into the dermis and epidermis, and obviously is a more superior moisturizer (whatever you put on your skin is ultimately absorbed into the body). Also, even though it's highly effective, coconut oil is very light and won't detract from your hair's bounce and body (just don't overdo it too much).
I also definitely had to try this when I saw all the great Ayurvedic herbs that were infused in this mineral oil-free formulation. They're known to protect, nourish, and promote growth and it really made a difference in my hair since I've used pure coconut oil before and got better results with this product.
I'm SO happy I did because after getting a fresh relaxer from a 5-month stretch, I was worried for my hair (which is unbelievably stubborn). So I started taking prescription a prenatal vitamin every day and massaging this into my scalp every other night. Within a month after having a relaxer, I had Aan inch of new growth so I am DEFINITELY never letting this stuff go! The only drawback is that musty smell coconut oil generally seems to have after being in your hair awhile. It smells good at first, but quickly becomes a turn-off the longer it sits in your hair. Nothing a good wash and deep condition won't fix later, though!

5.0 out of 5 stars best hair product EVER, April 15, 2009
This review is from: Dabur Vatika Hair Oil 300ml (Pack of 2 Bottles) (Health and Beauty)
I have fairly thin wavy hair and this product makes my hair feel thick and healthy, and look gorgeous. I don't notice much of a smell but I love the smell of coconut anyway so it's a plus to me. No negative sides to this product as far as I'm concerned. I DEFINITELY recommend this!!!

This oil is soo effective as a deep conditioner. I had noticed my hair was thinning at the temples and near the front (from too much hair pulling). After using it for only 3-4 weeks I am seeing new growth. Available for $4.00 at Lakshmi's Cupboard.

this is the best oil i have ever used and the only one i will use from now on, the smell is ok. i had to get used to the smell. i melted the oil and applied it to my scalp and sat under the hair dryer and it went from my roots to ends in no time. my hair is shiny, managable, and soft and with silicon mix as my deep condition my hair smells great. a little REALLY does go a long way. the 300ml, will last along time. try poppin offthe light green seal under the cap, melt the oil and pour in an applicator bottle to apply to scalp!!!! i love it!!!!!

I purchased this oil after I saw someone using it on You Tube, yeah I said You Tube. The person that was using had a really healthy looking hair and it was like mine really long, so I figured I would give it a try. I love it- it makes my hair feel softer and healthier and looks shiny without all the heavy greasiness (hope I spelled that correctly. Anyways this stuff is good, but there are a few things you may want to know about this product that I did not know about first. 1. This oil will make your hair color darker, so if you wanna keep light colored tint or dye you may wanna use something else like Jojoba oil or Kemi-oyl, if hair color is not a problem or issue for you then this will be fine. Another thing is that when the container is kept in a cool place the oil will harden, so be prepared, if like me you keep your house cool to place it in a sink of warm water or to run hot water on the bottle until the oil melts. Other than that, this is some good stuff to have I keep it in my house.
