5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book on Dachshunds and the history of breeding!
This book is wonderful if you are interested in reading about Dachshunds and the history of breeding in the United States. I purchased this book because the breeder which I got my new Miniature Dachshund from is listed in the book and it gave me a lot of information as to the history of the breeder and their dogs lineage. It also gave insight on how they have helped...

1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY THIS BOOK!
This is a TERRIBLE book that is nothing buy 1930's "information" about who was breeding what line of dachshunds. I thought with a five star review it would be bearable, but it is NOT. The photos in color are in a mid-book section with small photos about 6 to a 5x7" page. The text is laughable--NOTHING about dachshunds and all about pretentious 1930's to...

This book is wonderful if you are interested in reading about Dachshunds and the history of breeding in the United States. I purchased this book because the breeder which I got my new Miniature Dachshund from is listed in the book and it gave me a lot of information as to the history of the breeder and their dogs lineage. It also gave insight on how they have helped other breeders start their lines. If you are beginning to look for a Dachshund and are going about it the right way by researching breeders this if definately the book for you to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nicholas & Foy on The Dachshund, January 21, 2008

I have owned and shown purebred dogs for twenty-five years. I have owned and bred Championship winning dachshunds for fifteen years. I have been reading Ms. Nicholas' books half of my life and I have never found one of then wanting for breed history or information on the breed's character. My copy of this book is twenty-seven years old and I have read it several times. I am also glad it has so many pictures of the late and great dogs of the past that figure so prominantly in the pedigrres of today's dogs. William Given

DON'T BOTHER. And don't say I didn't tell you!
