this book is a fabulous guide for parents- not just dads! Although I do love rule #46- "consult your wife on what to say". The book is super easy to read because it's all broken up into simple and short 'rules' to live by! There are also lots of great resources (website suggestions, ideas, etc) that I can use NOW to positively impact my parenting :) great book!!

This is the best gift you could give your father, husband, brother or grandpa. The rules in this book give men everywhere simple lessons to help them remember their #1 job -- that of Dad. I loved it!
The rules are simple, pithy and humorous. But most importantly, they serve as reminders of what you should do to be a better caregiver and to love your role.

Even though I'm woefully short on testosterone, I LOVED this book! I'm a Life Coach with a specialty in parenting, and I think this book is brilliant. Treion has a folksy wisdom that instructs as it delights. His Rules are a blueprint for how to be a great parent. Do yourself a favor and buy this book; then buy one for all your friends. We've got about one month until Father's Day which makes the timing of this book very appropriate. Depending on the relationship you have with your own dad, giving him this book could earn a variety of different reactions. Rest assured, this book is neither preachy nor condescending and any father should be able to pick this up and read with the tone and spirit in which it's intended.
As the author points out in the introduction, there aren't any perfect parents, there's no set of instructions for how to raise children and every family situation is different and requires different parenting techniques. That said, this book outlines 81 "Dad Rules" that can be applied to your own situation to become a better father.
As a book, this is a very quick read. 81 rules, each about 1 page in length with quick examples and explanations. Treion emphasizes that this book is not intended to be read like a standard book. Rather, it is meant to exist as a standby resource to remind yourself of the simple rules of life that we often forget. It's filled with short snippets of advice and wisdom pulled from a variety of sources ranging from ancient proverbs and scriptures to modern day comedians and scientists. Treion Muller states in his book that father's lack a "fairy godfather" to show us the way. His book is the next best thing. Muller provides a guide that can be as useful to a grandfather as it is to a new parent. This book is SO cute and yet so full of wisdom. I now have Father's Day gifts for my three sons-in-law and my dad. The copy I give my dad will include my notes to him about how well he mastered the rules and my memories of some of the daddy-daughter times.
