5.0 out of 5 stars Better than 5 stars
Fresh out of the delivery area, our son was passed around in glee from grandma, dad, aunt, aunt, uncle, you get the idea. After everyone left, it was naptime for mom and baby. I put on this CD, and I just listened while mom dozed and I held his little hand in awe. So I have an emotional attachment to this album. If you listen to it, you will see why I chose it as the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Country Music Fans will Love this Title
Country Music fans will love this title, but I was a little disappointed. It'll teach me to listen to the song clips before purchase. The songs are tender and precious, especially "A Long Timey Ago." The sweet country flavor of most of the songs will appeal to some, but not all. I also purchased Planet Sleep and On a Starry Night and loved them both!

If you listen to it, you will see why I chose it as the first recording for my son to hear (outside of the womb)

The songs are excellent, just the right amount of parental sentiment mixed in with superb musicianship. The imagery in the lyrics is truly inspired.

We hadn't listened to this CD in a while - my son is now 4 1/2. But when we discovered today that we couldn't find it, I immediately came here to buy another copy. I've forgotten some of the words to 'Lullaby Time in the Desert', and my wife and son won't stop pestering me until I can sing it to them again...

5.0 out of 5 stars Tender Fathers Sweetly Sing, September 29, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Daddies Sing Good Night (Audio CD)
Such a wonderful collection of loving songs, sung mostly by bluegrass and folk singers inspired by their own children. The words and melodies are both soothing to our baby and also so moving to her parents. Truly our favorite lullaby cd-- I would buy it for any parents who like good, folksy music and who have tender hearts.

The baby might be tired of this one, but, I can't stop listening to it. A must own for babies and parents who hate banal "baby" music.

I love, love, love this CD! I don't care for those typical, sappy lullaby CDs, but this CD is different. It has a wonderfully earthy, bluegrass feel to it. I get teary-eyed every single time I hear "Little One," and songs like "My Little Buckaroo" are so much fun! Mommies and Daddies both will love this CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Faithfully puts my son to sleep, February 26, 2000

Though I'm not a country music fan, I enjoy listening to this CD, too. It's very soothing, and the songs are hearfelt with some truly precious lines. "Green-pea toes" comes to mind, along with "today you have the hands of a baby, tomorrow the hands of a lady."

5.0 out of 5 stars Our *favorite* lullaby CD!, December 9, 2003

This is absolutely our favorite lullaby CD. Adults can enjoy the music as much as children can! We played this CD on the way home from the hospital with our son, and love it as much now that he is 6 months old as we did then. Some of the songs, such as "Little One," bring tears to my eyes, while my husband has a great time singing "My Little Buckaroo," to our son. A fantastic collection of songs!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful. Stands up to much repeat listening., October 30, 1998

My "little one" is entranced by this CD, but the best thing about it is that my husband and I enjoy listening to it also. Alan O'Bryant's "Little One" is the most honest, heartfelt lullaby I've ever heard.

We got DADDIES SING GOODNIGHT when our son was just born and we've played it at bedtime at least a few times for the past year. It's a wonderful collection, heartfelt but not oversentimental, for music fans of all types.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely for naptime and mellow-time., May 17, 2006

I got this from our local library to test it out with my 15-month-old daughter -- my husband is a country & folk music fan, so I thought I'd get it for his benefit. But, after just two days, I returned it and raced to the store to buy it for MY benefit. The only other lullaby CD I've liked so strongly is Putomayo's "Dreamland." "Daddies Sing Goodnight" is a wonderful mix of music, some cowboy-ish, some bluegrass, some just folksy. "Sweet Baby James" is gorgeous, and "Long Timey Ago" always makes me get a little choked up. I'm surprised that one reviewer says the songs/voices are scary, as that hasn't been our experience -- in fact, we find this a great calming, happy CD for mellow times, not just for naptimes. We're getting to know the songs well enough to sing along, which just adds to the pleasure.
