His speeches, sermons, and writings are inspirational and timeless. King was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 4, 1968.

I really enjoyed reading this book, especially the first few chapters that discussed Daddy King's youth. I learned a lot about the King family that I hadn't known-they experienced a great deal of personal tragedy. The book was a page turner, until I got to the middle and felt like too many pages were devoted to discussing voter registration. I like the fact that Daddy King didn't spend too much time writing about Martin. Rather, he gives the reader a thorough glimpse of the entire King family. I would definitely recommend reading this book.
