This review is from: Daddy Long Legs (Manga Literary Classics series) (Paperback)
Okay, first off, the photo shown is not really the one on the original book. The girl is actually brunette and not as anime cute. I was really looking forward to this since I like the idea of classics being turned into manga. However, after waiting for nearly three months more than I originally thought I was going to when I placed my pre-order, when I got the book, a quick flip through it proved a major disappointment. The artwork is obviously done by Americans, and no offence to my fellow Americans, but we just don't have the same Manga style as the Japanese. The characters wavered from odd looking chibis to rather creepy-looking realistic people. The story was pretty much word for word from the original book of 'Daddy Long Legs' so you don't get any other thoughts from any of the other characters. Granted, since the original book was written as letters and thus other characters' thoughts weren't stated either, but the manga feels odd because it's just Judy's thoughts. So, if you can borrow or get the book used, I'd recommended doing that than buying it at full price. I don't really think it's worth it.
