That is what Nick Barry heard when he first moved into his aunt's place that was part of a fourplex in a North Dallas neighborhood, the next thing he knew he had a three year old attached to his leg.

That was when he encountered Jennifer Carpenter and her three adopted daughters-Steffi, Annie and Missy (who has declared Nick as her new daddy).

The only problem was that even though her three daughters adored Nick, Jennifer felt that being attracted to Nick was more of a problem considering she just became a mother to three girls in the past day.

Judy Christenberry has began a new series that is about family and love.

"Daddy Next Door" is the first book in a series of set around the occupants of the fourplex.

The characters are well developed and you grow to care for them.
The story does not stall as I have seen in other books.

Also, Jennifer is a photogapher who volunteered to take photos of children up for adoption for the Heart Gallery which is a real organization.
As Ms. Christenberry pointed out she saw a program on The Heart Gallery and incorporated that into her story. The Heart Gallery can be found online.

The story has heart, family and love.

In North Dallas, Nick Barry moves into the apartment he sublet from his Aunt Grace, who moved to an assistant living facility when he is accosted by a three year old girl who insists he is her daddy. Nick meets Missy's "mommy" Jennifer Carpenter and the little girl's sisters. He and Jennifer clarify that he is not their daddy, but the three young girls cry.

Though Nick knows he needs to flee the four females next door, he finds he cannot. He likes the little ones and is attracted to the big one. As Nick keeps coming around, Jennifer appreciates how much attention Nick provides the three girls she wants to adopt, but though half in love with him, she assumes a bachelor hunk like him does not need a family of four.

Though Missy seems too precocious at times, readers will enjoy this fine family drama as the two adults fall in love, but both recognize that the kids must come first. The story line is driven by the three preadolescent matchmakers who follow the lead of that pint sized General Missy who anoints Nick as daddy; from there he did not stand a chance unless he made a full retreat out of the state even if he is a Texan. Judy Christenberry writes a warm tale of love between two adults and three children creating a family.
