5.0 out of 5 stars perfect for military toddlers!
A perfect book for children with parents in the military. My son calls it his "daddy book" and even though he's only 3 he has memorized the whole thing (it rhymes so it's easy to remember) and he "read" it to his father when he came back from Iraq. I would recommend this book to anybody with toddlers who has a parent who is deployed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Worth The Money
What a disappointment! $9 for this thing? It's not even a real book! While the story itself is cute, it's nothing more than a pamphlet. My 2 year old will have torn this up in no time. I wish I had spent the money on a "real" book instead.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for young kids of a deployed parent, May 8, 2006
This review is from: Daddy Is a Soldier (Paperback)
I ordered this book for my two year old son when his dad deployed to Iraq. It is very simple and easy for him to understand. The book is narated by a little boy who is very proud of his dad's job even though it sometimes makes his dad travel far away. It briefly explores the feelings a child may feel in this situation. My son loves this book! Although it makes me cry, I love this book too. However, the book is very flimsy. I wish it had been constructed better, especially since my son carries it around all of the time. I am online to buy another one to have as a back up. At $9.00, I would expect better quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars The very best deployment book!!!, January 18, 2007
This review is from: Daddy Is a Soldier (Paperback)
This was the very best of all the books we bought about Daddy's deployment. It's written from a little boy's pespective and it hits the mark perfectly. He loved this book!!!!!! I can't recommend it enough! Your kids won't be disappointed with this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars happy with my purchase, April 1, 2006
This review is from: Daddy Is a Soldier (Paperback)
This book is adorable, my kids loved it. I agree with the other review that it is small, but it's an easy size for toddlers to hold. Very cute.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a deployment book for TODDLERS!, March 30, 2008
This review is from: Daddy Is a Soldier (Paperback)
The Army had little to no advise for helping parents with children under the age of 5 with the fears of deployment. This book is terrific for that age group. I wish I had found this book the first time my husband deployed! This book helped my son to understand that he is not the only kid whose daddy is deployed. It also changed his focus on the deployment. Before we got the book he struggled with why his dad "left him." After reading this book he focused more on being proud of what his father does. This simple book was a tremendous help.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good story line, low quality pages, January 7, 2009
This review is from: Daddy Is a Soldier (Paperback)
I purchased this book for my 2 year grandson since my son is in the Navy. It has a good story line, but felt it was a bit pricey for the low quality production. Pages are flimsy for a 2 year old and pictures are lower in quality as well. It would be an awesome book for just a few dollars.

3.0 out of 5 stars Daddy's little girl, April 28, 2008
This review is from: Daddy Is a Soldier (Paperback)
I was also a little disappointed by how thin and small the book was for nine dollars. Usually I can pay only seven and get a book much thicker. I also wish the pictures in the book were better drawn but you can tell that by looking at the cover. All in all it was a book for my daughter and she likes it. Military books for kids are just impossible to find in the stores.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book, wish it was sturdier, February 9, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Daddy Is a Soldier (Paperback)
This is a good book for small children of military parents. It has a nice story that covers all the child's concerns, and colorful, simple, graphics.
BUT, the book is FLIMSY, I would think a book for small children would be constructed more sturdily.

1.0 out of 5 stars This book is not worth the money, March 29, 2006

This review is from: Daddy Is a Soldier (Paperback)
As a lover of children's books, and a wife of an active duty Marine, I was completely disappointed when I received this book in the mail. The purchase price was $9, but I wouldn't have paid more than a $1 for it had I seen it in person. The book is small and paper thin. The content itself is alright, age appropriate, but the quality for the price is terrible. I am returning mine.
