Book Description

October 1, 1999
When Rory James, a widowed mother of three rowdy kids, agrees to appear on a television show to discuss child discipline, she's not prepared for the arrogant and uninformed views of childless veterinarian Seth Stone.

As the debate heats up, the show's producer issues a $25,000 challenge: Allow Dr. Stone an opportunity to use his techniques with Rory's kids.

Seth knows a lot about how not to treat children; lessons well-learned from an abusive father. He's positive the methods he's used to train animals will work with children. After all, how difficult could it be to teach a child to behave?

Editorial Reviews

Review

"DADDY IN TRAINING is a thoroughly enchanting tale. Michele R. Bardsley has a way with words--and with kids, animals, small-town life, heroines to admire and heroes to sigh for. From beginning to end, I loved it." (Marilyn Pappano, award-winning romance author, Warner Books and Silhouette Intimate Moments -- Marilyn Pappano, award-winning romance author, Warner Books and Silhouette Intimate Moments)

"Excellent! Ms. Bardsley has an absolute gift with characterization and dialogue. Each and every character was an individual personality and so life-like. The kids bickering back and forth, and the normal every-day life situations that plagued Rory's home, had me chuckling out loud. This is romantic comedy at its best. Natural and spontaneous, not the hit-you-over-the-head "see, I made a joke" kind of humor. For a light-hearted, humorous read with real emotional issues, read Daddy in Training by Michele R. Bardsley. You're sure to enjoy it." 5 Stars! -- Scribes World Reviews

"Michele Bardsley did a fantastic job creating the children characters making each child come alive and act their age while Seth and Rory debate their love for each other. Hold onto your chair as you read DADDY IN TRAINING. It will tickle your funny bone and remind you that love knows no bounds especially when kids become the matchmakers. -- reviewed by Brenda Ramsbacher, Just Views

"Move over Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Julia Quinn, and all you other queens of romance humor and make room for Michele Bardsley. This, her first offering, is an absolute winner and not to be missed. DADDY IN TRAINING rates among the best of humorous contemporary romances I have read this year." Starred Review! -- Romance Communications

About the Author

In-between changing diapers, going to Girl Scout meetings, fixing spaghetti dinners, answering questions like "Honey, why are my socks glued to the floor?" and committing plant homicide (you mean you have to water those green thingies?), Michele R. Bardsley writes novels. She also finds time for eating chocolate and drawing smiley faces in the accumulated dust on her furniture.

An award-winning writer, Michele has been published in short fiction and non-fiction. Despite living in Las Vegas for two whole years, she's never hit a Megabucks jackpot, so she earns a living as an editor for an independent publisher of gambling books. She lives with her husband, two adorable children, and two neurotic cats. DADDY IN TRAINING is her first published book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Daddy in Training, April 26, 2000

I enjoyed this book from start to finish. The characters came alive for me as real people, with authentic problems and emotions. I especially liked the portrayal of the children, who made me laugh and cry. The author's style was easy to read with snappy pacing. Although humorous, the book was also poignant -- my kind of read.

5.0 out of 5 stars More!, April 5, 2000

"Daddy in Training" is a delightful story, fresh and animated, with some of the truest characters yet to be written. Rory is a heroine so down to earth she could be any one of us, and Seth is a hero we would all love to meet...and know. Even if you don't care for your romances loaded with kids, these children are a joy. The dialogue is snappy, and frequently made me laugh out loud. Yet, with the barest choice words, Ms. Bardsley evoked a sharp breath and twinge in my chest for the heartache our hero and heroine experienced. More, the love scenes were fresh. I enjoyed this book immensely, will read it again, and look forward to the sequel, "Bride in Training." I will definitely buy Ms. Bardsley's other books.

The author has a unique style. She led me through a great read, keeping the separte voices easy to identify without too many tags. I'm looking forward to her next book.
