About the Author

A. K. Alexander dreamed of being a writer since the age of nine, earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern California before tackling fiction. Crime Scene Investigator Holly Jennings is a single, widowed mom with a daughter. When she becomes the lead investigator trying to find a serial killer who is murdering single moms with a son or daughter, her maternal instincts go into overdrive and it becomes her personal mission to find the killer.

The story switches back and forth between Holly's point of view and that of the deranged psychopath looking for the perfect family with himself as the perfect father by becoming the husband/father figure in the women's lives. When the women don't accept his 'unwanted' fathering and husbanding, the mother is killed violently and the child in a less violent way.

Throughout the story, Holly struggles with her love for her deceased husband and the feelings that are developing between her and her daughter's best friend's father. A good verbal kick-in-the-pants from her partner helps her get past the feeling of cheating on her deceased husband.

The twists and turns of the story and the realness of the characters made this a quick read for me. The little background into the deceased husband will hopefully parlay into a sequel.

I'm a big fan of Mary Higgins Clark. At first I hoped this book is going to be something similar to her books. Everything was in place: female protagonist, male villain, the heroine has a strong character, but is kinda lonely.

The moment we get the first point of view from the killer, I realized that it's not going to be a Mary Higgins Clark copy, but something different. And I thought it's going to be different in a bad way. With the way the author gives us free info on the killer, I started to think "weak plot, could have so much more tension...". Guess what: I was so wrong...

The plot picks up as you get more into the book, and the creepiness factor increases exactly when you think the killer couldn't be more creepy. All in all, it's one of those books that suddenly becomes very hard to put down. The plot is very well done, with clever twists and turns. The characters are alive, and you get to have feelings for them. You want to rid the world of the killer, along with Holly, and want to see her together with the kind Brendan O'Neil. You want to protect her daughter just as much as she wants.

It's a great book.

DADDY'S HOME by A.K. Alexander is a masterpiece fraught with engrossing suspense and action. The author created a ruthless and chilling serial killer that you will detest.

Holly Jennings is a widowed, single mom of a little girl. She is also a Crime Scene Investigator, (CSI) and the lead detective in hunting down this sociopath killer, who targets single moms that has a child.

In his delusional world, he meets a woman and instantly considers himself the husband and father. When the woman doesn't respond to this insanity, he viciously kills them both, and he's done this a few times.

This is a well-written book, with likeable characters, and gripping suspense. At times my heart was up in my throat. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fast-paced, on-the-edge-of-your-seat, heart-stopping thriller.
