4.0 out of 5 stars You Can't Escape
A few years ago I saw this movie titled "Final Destination" it was about a group of school aged kids taking a trip; who were supposed to die in flight but instead escaped death. Soon after their escape, they begin dying one-by-one in mysterious freak accidents. The premise of "Daddy's House" is almost the same. The story is based on the old adage "what comes around goes...

On the run for being a snitch, Candace Holmes doesn't know who to trust and she's afraid to find out. After nearly being caught by her arch enemy's goons, she agrees to move into Daddy's house, because at least she'll be safe from Big V there. The catch is, she has to become one of Daddy's girls, meaning she is expected to join his stable of ladies of leisure. At first, she protests but then she figures she can make good money in Daddy's house, making escape possible sooner than she thought. But things aren't always as they seem. DADDY'S HOUSE is full of secrets and a final showdown with Big V reveals the most devastating secret of them all. Suddenly Daddy's house is yet another place from which Candace must escape.

Azarel takes it to the streets in DADDY'S HOUSE. I couldn't help feeling like Candace ultimately got what she deserved and there isn't much depth to the story, but she does a good job describing the lifestyle of ladies of leisure.

Soon after their escape, they begin dying one-by-one in mysterious freak accidents. The premise of "Daddy's House" is almost the same. Candice obviously didn't believe in karma she made one bad decision after another with regards to the men in her life. In the end she had two powerful individuals plotting to take her life. Together they will navigate to put her down however they can.
Through it all Candice seems to remember the teachings of faith she learned from her grandma. But is she in too deep to be saved?

Daddy's House has a very unpredictable ending which will make Candice and the reader believe "what comes around goes around" I absolutely enjoyed this book LCB is really producing a lot of must reads.

5.0 out of 5 stars Working Girls, December 9, 2007
This review is from: Daddy's House (Paperback)
Azarel is back with another smash hit, and it's a definite page turner. Candy is on the run from her mother because her mouth wrote a check her a$$ couldn't cash. She couldn't trust anyone, not even family, and when she finds herself at Daddy's House it's like a dream come true...if that dream were really a nightmare. Daddy is a mess, and Ms. Dottie is even worse. There are strict rules in Daddy's House and if you don't follow them you may just find your self back where you started from.
This was a different kind of situation for Azarel in a hugh way. This book was different from her previous works but she gave you that same page-turner/can't-put-down energy that she's known for. There were many surprises along the way, and I really enjoyed the story. I have to honestly say it was definitely wrapped up well and there is no need for a sequel. Make this one a part of your X-Mas wish list, You won't regret it!

2.0 out of 5 stars That Dirty Daddy, December 30, 2007
This review is from: Daddy's House (Paperback)
Candice Holmes is in the witness protection program, and on the run from her mother, Velma "Big V" Holmes. While in hiding, Candice is referred to "Daddy's House," a place for young girls. Candice doesn't realize that her troubles have just begun when she moves into that house.

Velma's mission is to find her daughter, and seek revenge; however, Velma only shows up in a few chapters of the book. It is clear that there is deep deception and hate between Velma and Candice, but the story only gives tidbits of the events that lead up to their issues. When Daddy, Velma, and Candice finally confront each other at Daddy's House, the ugly truth comes out, and unexpected tragedy happens.

DADDY'S HOUSE was a big disappointment. There were multiple holes in the storyline, and the main characters only came together at the end. The main purpose of "the house" was never fully explained, and the culprits running it were not exposed. I guess a sequel could possibly explain things, but I won't suggest that scary thought!

4.0 out of 5 stars House of Sin, December 27, 2007

This review is from: Daddy's House (Paperback)
23 year old Candice Holmes is on the run from a ruthless, dangerous killer. Big V aka Velma Holmes. Candice's own mom. The story was good, the book is a page turner, but the fact that a mother was out to kill her own daughter was a little far fetched. If it had been a psycho ex boyfriend it would have been more believable.
So after Candice's witness protected apartment is broken into by Big V's thugs Candice is on the move from Jersey to New York. She hooks up with her cousin Tracey, and winds up at Daddy's House. The women in Daddy's house earn there room and board and a little cash by laying on their backs. Daddy is a ruthless, cold hearted man who is all about his money. Candice hopes to escape Big V, but she may have made her problems worse.

5.0 out of 5 stars Big V-vs-Daddy's House, November 1, 2011

This was a great book. I actually bought this book after reading "Carbon Copy". Candice tried to run but apparently she couldn't hide. There are rules that shouldn't be broken and testifing against your mother is one. The end was krazy but daddy's house was even krazier. I wanna know why in the hell Candice thought Daddy would treat her differently than the rest of the gurls? Thats part of the game so you can make his money...h0ney! Good book Azarel

This book was a hot mess in a good twisted way. I could not believe some of the craziness that went on in this book, especially the relationship between Daddy and Candy.

I really expected more from this book,I was kind of let down because it wasnt what i expected. The book wasnt bad,But I do believe that the author may have forgotten what she wrote in previous chapters, because this book is FULL of loopholes and errors.Just read the book and pay attention and you will see exactly what Im talking about.
