(VINE VOICE)    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Daddy's Little Girl (Paperback)
Daddy's Little Girl, by Brittani Williams, introduced Giselle Doran, the daughter of big- time dealer Terrell (Big T) who made sure that she had everything her heart desired. Giselle adored her father and no one compared to him. When her mother was tragically taken away from her, she stepped up her game and took on her mother's role as caregiver to Terrell and her brother, Akil.

Terrell introduced Giselle to Shawn, his new business partner, and for her it was love at first sight. She took on a `by any means necessary' approach to snag him but will the fruits of her labor be fulfilling?

Mimi Gordon's upbringing was nothing close to Giselle's. She had been abandoned by her mother and raised by Grandmom, her grandmother. She was never interested in thugs until she met Tony, of whom Grandmom disapproved. Tony showed Mimi the life of long money and being `that' girl. When they broke up, had she learned her lesson about loving a `bad' boy? Then James came along and not under the best circumstances. As their relationship blossomed, would James provide her with the love and security that she desperately seeks? Or would he prove to be worse than Tony?

Giselle's and Mimi's lives collided, head on, from two totally different directions. The paths were laid for this collision by the men they loved, but how? Brittini Williams will guide you through the tangled web in `Daddy's Little Girl'.

This novel is excellently written. At first glance, the years the chapters are dated are not chronological and would appear to confuse the reader. The contrary happened as I read it. I followed along easily and did not have to refer back to see if I missed something. The story played like a movie in my mind which, to me, validated that Ms. William's characters were developed well. There was no struggle in reading this book. The transition between chapters was smooth and the air of mystery she created was awesome. The way the relationships between the characters unraveled was what sealed the deal in my rating for this novel. I recommend that all avid urban fiction readers pick this book up now!

4.0 out of 5 stars Plenty of Drama, April 1, 2007
This review is from: Daddy's Little Girl (Paperback)
At first I was hesitant about this book but the more I read it the more I wanted to see what was gonna happen. There was plenty of drama that's for sure.Mimi Gordon didn't like bad boys until she came across Tony.He provided her with the finer things and it only made her want more. After Tony she meets James who has plans to become king of the city.James' new identity takes over leaving Mimi sad and frustrated by the sudden turn of events.
Giselle Doran is a high maintenance female. She is daddy's little girl and goes from that to being a queen when she marries Shawn. It doesn't come without a price and after losing everything Giselle is locked up for murder and she realize the material things don't mean anything without her family.
I like the characters but James was one of those characters that you hate but make the book worth reading.I would recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced and fun, February 25, 2007
This review is from: Daddy's Little Girl (Paperback)
FYI this book has nothing to do with Tyler Perry's new movie "Daddy's Little Girls". The BOOK "DADDY'S LITTLE GIRL" is written by Brittani Williams. Her book took me a touch longer to read. It wasn't a bad book by a long shot, just different.

It's a story of betrayl, (lots of it), love, lost love, hatred and just plain ol' greed. For me it took a minute to picture the characters, but the characters fit the story well. (I'm a military brat, don't know much of the drug world, just what I see on tv). I did enjoy reading this novel. I was able to be placed in the shoes of people that I never hung around. At first I was wondering when the characters would start to connect. As I contuined to read, I was shocked at who some of them turned out to be. She told a great story over a period of about 10 years.

Thank You Brittani for sharing your work. Look foward to hearing more from you!

4.0 out of 5 stars (RAW Rating: 3.5) - Life with the bad guys, July 28, 2007

The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers (RAWSISTAZ.com and BlackBookReviews.net) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Daddy's Little Girl (Paperback)
DADDY'S LITTLE GIRL by Brittani Williams introduces us to three characters in Philadelphia. Giselle is the daughter of the top hustler in who worships the ground she walks on, giving her everything money can buy. She is closely watched by her father, yet finds herself wildly attracted to one of his partners. He is older and knows how her father feels about her so he keeps his distance. Mimi, whose mother blamed her for ruining her life because she felt she was too young to have a child, is raised by her strict grandmother and Mimi feels imprisoned by the rules, but never really follows them. She attracts a handsome drug dealer and because her grandmother works nights, she is able to see him until one day it all blows up in her face. James, the son of a hustler he met only a few times, wants to take over the city as the biggest drug dealer and he'll go to any length to do so. James begins to plot to take over Giselle's father's business. The lives of these three young people cross as they travel the clubs and nightspots of the city, looking for love, money and action.

Brittani Williams has spun a complicated tale of love and betrayal that holds your interest until the end. The characters are very busy and sometimes it gets just a bit confusing with all the subplots and secondary characters wandering in and out of the picture. There are many steamy love scenes and the naiveté of the young women is very believable as they search for love in all the wrong places. In the end, the story comes together.

5.0 out of 5 stars 'This Nicca Got Straight Games ' as he leads his ladies to the 'Crossroad', June 22, 2007
This review is from: Daddy's Little Girl (Paperback)
Brittani Williams has made a stunning debut with "Daddy's Little Girl". She introduces us to Giselle, who's the descendant of a major baller. She has seen her share of trials and tribulations beginning with witnessing the murder of her mom, losing her brother to the system and now she's looking for love in all the wrong faces despite her father's attempt to steer her away from the path of destruction.

Then there's Mimi who was abandoned by her mom and left to be raised by her Grandmother. She has her mind on her books but becomes swayed by the wooing of the smoothest player in the book by the name of James. But James has a higher agenda then just loving Mimi. He dreams of being King of the Streets and schemes to gain the title by destroying Big T and gaining the reign by way of using Giselle as a way in to his entity. The mastery of which Brittani brings us to the 'crossroads' is awesome and I give her major props for the creativeness and the manner in which it all fits...tailor-made to be exact!!!! LOL

Brittani magically captures her readers attention with the smoothest flow of a gifted storyteller. DLG is a sensational stunner filled to the brim with conniving, manipulative playas, lying, scheming, betrayals, and murder. Lil Ms. Brittani, you're on your way, keep your eyes on the prize because you are a major playa in this urban genre!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Miss Williams Came Out Swingin'!!!, April 17, 2007
This review is from: Daddy's Little Girl (Paperback)
This was an absolutely hot debut novel from Miss Brit. This fast paced tail of betrayal, friendship, and street fame brought you head on with Giselle and why she was called Daddy's Little Girl. This story was told from her perspective as well as Mimi's, who just happened to be living life just the opposite of Giselle's spoiled behind. These two women were living around the same people and didn't even know it.
I love how it all came together, and it ended with a BANG! I'm definitely looking forward to Brittani's next work. Daddy's Little Girl will keep you turning the pages desperate for more drama. Do I smell a sequel?????

4.0 out of 5 stars Lessons Learned., March 6, 2007
This review is from: Daddy's Little Girl (Paperback)
Mimi Gordon has never been attracted to bad boys until she met Tony. Tony gave her the luxurious life that she always dreamed of until he kicks her to the curb for another woman. Mimi picks up the pieces of her life and meets James. James sweeps her off her feet and Mimi thinks she finally found the love of life. But Mimi's sunny days become gloomy when James' plan to become the king of the ghetto forces him into a deadly situation. Giselle Doran is a sexy, high-maintenance woman who always gets what she wants. Her father has many successful underground businesses that get Giselle the finer things in life. When she marries Shawn, she feels on top of the world. But when Giselle is sent to prison and loses everything including her family, she realizes being royalty in the drug game doesn't guarantee a good life. What lesson will both of these young women learn?

Daddy's Little Girl is a thought-provoking page-turner by Brittani Williams. Williams skillfully brought a story about two young women's struggle to stand by their men in the drug game. You will feel the low-self esteem issues of Mimi and the cockiness of Giselle. This novel is full of so much drama and amazing twists that readers will need to pay close attention as this story unfolds. The lesson that the women learn in this story is that everything that looks good isn't good for you. Daddy's Little Girl is fast-paced and entertaining. Hopefully, this is the start to a long, successful career for Brittani Williams.

Third purpose...If You Don't Stand Up For Nothing, You'll Fall For Anything! There's other purposes but I'm not going to preach them but this was a good book & a good tangled web it was weaved. It was only a matter of time before that web spun out of control & once it did, I couldnt wait to get to the next page to find out what was going down! In the end, I felt bad for the Mimi & Giselle..they got played in the worst way. But in the end, only one of them got a second chance to really live their life!
