A gentle tale and perfect for bedtime reading,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Daddy's Lullaby (Hardcover)
Gently written by Tony Bradman, Daddy's Lullaby is a truly beautiful picturebook story of a father who comes home to a sleeping house - except for the youngest member of the family. So he takes the baby in his arms in a stroll about their home. Warm, touching, and featuring soft, impressionistic full-color artwork by Jason Cockcroft, Daddy's Lullaby is a gentle tale and perfect for bedtime reading to very young children.

Beautiful and sweet!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Daddy's Lullaby (Hardcover)
This is a sweet story about a father who comes home late after a long week and finds his youngest baby awake. He walks the baby around the house to check on the other family members and sings them both asleep with a lullaby. It's a nice story and the pictures are realistic and beautiful. I did hesitate to buy it based on the review that mentioned the gender sterotypes but am glad I did. I honestly don't get the fuss...except for dad coming home late (and the suggestion is he's been working), there's nothing else there that suggests any other family roles. It doesn't say whether or not mom works. Also, it shows that dad is involved in his kid's care. I guess if your a stay-at-home dad this doesn't fit you, but I don't think it's offensive either!

This book really touched my heart. I don't agree with the reviewer that said it reinforces stereotypes - if it does, then I guess my family is a stereotype because the book fit our family perfectly! My husband often comes home very late to find us all sleeping. The illustrations are beautiful and the story is very sweet.

This book is beautifully illustrated and well written. In our house Daddy often comes home late and never forgets to give love to the baby and our pets. My older daughter and I chose this book at the bookstore because it is just like daddy. We enjoy reading it together and think you will too.

Wonderful Book for Daddys and Babies,

This review is from: Daddy's Lullaby (Hardcover)
Daddy's Lullaby is a wonderful story about a Daddy who comes home from work late one night- and finds his whole family asleep - all except his youngest baby. So, Daddy and Baby take a stroll around the house, checking on all sleeping family members. Then they settle down and Daddy sings Baby a lullaby (to the tune of Rock-a-by Baby).
The illustrations are beautiful and the story is really sweet. This is a wonderful gift for expectant and/or new dads. I've bought several copies to give as gifts this holiday.

A wonderful book!,

This story about a daddy coming home to find his baby awake, then walking all around the house to see the rest of the family sleeping is wonderful. The illustrations are truly spectacular. My 12 month old son loves the pictures of the cat and the baby, particularly and I can always get him to giggle at the end when you find out where the baby and the daddy end up at the end of their journey. I would positively recommend this book to anyone.

Beautiful illustrations and lovely strory,

My 17 month old son loves to have this book read over and over especially before bed. The pictures are so soft and beautiful and show the Daddy coming home, feeding the cat and comforting the sweet little one who is still awake long after the rest of the house is asleep. He takes the baby from room to room looking in on baby's big brother and mother until they finally fall asleep in the chair with daddy singing a lullaby and baby on daddy's chest. This is a sweet, loving story with pictures showing a daddy's gentle care.
p.s. If this was a "stereotype from the 50's" as another reviewer said, daddy would not be helping with baby at all, mommy would be the one up in the night.

My 21 month old loves this book, we read/sing it several times every night. He loves to point out the baby and the daddy and the cat. As a parent, I don't tire of it because the illustrations are really breathtaking. Highly reccommend!

Sweet book,

I picked this up at the library and now I'm going to buy several, one for me and more for gifts. My daughter and I think that this is a sweet book, showing a father's hard work and dedication to his family. If you think that is cliched, then I guess this book is not for you. Otherwise, enjoy it!

Lame story. Really really disappointed bc I wanted my husband to have his own book to read to our daughter. I don't even want to show it to him, it's so bad.
