What do elevators, beloved character actor Wilford Brimley, mall maps, flashing yellow traffic lights, the Weather Channel, and Allstate commercials have in common? Not much other than they all are on Griffin's list of favorite hobbies and interests. I'm a long-time fan of Big Daddy's blog, and his book contains never-before-seen essays, anecdotes, and cartoons about life with his autistic son. As the parent of a special needs child, I so appreciate looking past the gloom and doom and finding humor and joy in our day-to-day lives. Who needs a laugh more than us? You will find plenty in this book!

This book is awesome. I have a child with autism and I know that there's nothing more important than being able to find the humor in things. Big Daddy not only does that, but he does it WELL!! You don't have to have a child with autism to love this book; you will laugh no matter what.

Big Daddy's Tales from the Lighter Side of Raising a Kid with Autism is hilarious. Not only that, his anecdotes from raising one of the quirkiest kids ever, help to provide an emotional roadmap for other parents who have children with physical or mental impairments. I would recommend this book for anyone whose life is affected by someone with autism.

This book was full of great stories about raising children with Autism. The composition left something to be desired. Once I realized it was mostly a compilation of blog posts it didn't bother me as much. The author would explain things over again that didn't necessarily need to be repeated.

I've followed Big Daddy's blog for several months, so I was thrilled when his book came out.
Big Daddy has taught me a different way to parent a special needs child. He truly has shown me that it is OK to relax a little and just roll with things sometimes. The stories in his book are insightful, inspirational, and funny, and his cartoons are downright hilarious. Don't merely gloss over them, the humor is often in the fine details. My own autistic son loves Big Daddy's cartoons!
The essays by the Friends of Big Daddy add an extra dimension to the book by providing different voices and viewpoints, all of which reinforce his philosophy of love and acceptance.
If your child or someone else you love is affected by autism, do yourself a favor and read this book.

I too am a parent of a red headed, freckle faced, autistic boy. Jerry's situation does not seem to be as severe as Griffin's, but I could relate to Big Daddy's plight in so many of these scenarios. Really funny, real life stuff.

I loved this book! It was a fun, easy read. Big Daddy is hilarious! This was just what I needed as a new parent in the autism world. It made me appreciate my little boy even more.
