Book Description

March 1, 2005
Rule #1 in the parenting handbook: Keep 'em off guard. Then along comes Cathy Hamilton (a forty-something mother of two, by the way) who blows the whole cover for fatherdom. Okay, Dad will still have a trick or two up his sleeve, but Dadgummit goes a long way toward giving the other side some boisterously entertaining explanations about parental messages. Consider the author's take on this dadism:Let's nip this in the bud right now. Dads love nipping things in the bud. Some dads could go around bud-nipping all day. Among the most nippable . . . cussing, budding young romance, and a daughter's dreams of becoming a Vegas showgirl.Dadgummit knows just where Dad is coming from . . . and fatherhood will never be the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars Every Dad Has To Have This Book!!, April 10, 2007
This review is from: Dadgummit: More Dadisms (Hardcover)
As with all the books like this by Cathy Hamilton, this one will not disappoint. I began using many of these when my kids were about 8 years old, and continue to use many of them as teenagers. I have even heard my teenagers use some of these phrases!! The ONLY critisism I have for this book, and the series of books is the use of mild profanity. I believe that the book would still be as funny without the use them. Do not let that keep you from buying the book, because it is a jewel!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Dad series is a hoot a minute, July 3, 2005
This review is from: Dadgummit: More Dadisms (Hardcover)
If you think you're the only person whose dad said "Not under this roof, you're not" or "You're not going out in THAT!" then this series is going to broaden your horizons! Hilarious and pitch-perfect, it captures fathers' "wisdom" (if you can call it that) in true form. As a father myself, I cringe to realize I actually have said about half this stuff! Hamilton has created a marvelous little entertainment that perfect for families where dad has often put into words the kind of man he really is! Buy it for the dad in your life, and read it together.
