About the Author

Howie Rubin was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York with a brother and two sisters. His father was a high school teacher and his mother worked on the office staff in the new york school system.

From an early age, Howie showed curiosity and drive in creative ventures like games, toys, and children's literature. He has a bachelor and master degree in psychology, which were earned at Brooklyn College. He has worked in a variety of unique jobs throughout his career. He enjoys meeting new people and brings vitality to any group. He loves children, who surround him like a magnet.

Howie relocated to Portland, Oregon, in 1989 with the dream of working on his children's games and books. Howie lives with his wife, Patty, and has a grown, stepson, Scott, and stepdaughter, Jacqueline. He continuously enjoys pursuing his dreams.

I come across many "Moms" books during my readings, but it's always an added pleasure to see a "Dads" book...they always manage to catch my eye :).

The book, "Dads," by Howie Rubin, is a nice story about Dads. Children of all ages will enjoy the colorful illustrations, and if your child is of reading age, they will appreciate the large text and simple sentences. Many cultures are covered throughout the different illustrations. In addition, there is an insert in the back of the book where a Dad's photo can be added.
