Do you remember what a clean, crisp taste your favorite soda had before the sugar in it was replaced with corn sweetener? I do. You may be surprised that it costs less than one cent more per 12 oz. can to use sugar rather than corn sweetener.

The last time I had a Dad's Root Beer I was about 13 years old. 35 years later, at 48, there are times when it seems I can still taste it. Thanks to Amazon.com, I'll finally be able to satisfy my thirst for it.

Dad's has a much crisper, less syrupy taste than A & W, which leaves a sometimes unpleasant aftertaste. Barq's tastes slightly closer to Dad's, MUG closer yet. Dad's Root Beer has a little more carbonation, just a hint of sarsaparilla, and they still uses cane sugar instead of the ubiquitous corn sweetener. You can definitely taste the difference.

I have mixed feelings about Dad's Old Fashioned Root Beer. It is a loose, easy drinking root beer, but reminds me of root beer flavored hard candy.

The flavor is light, with vanilla in the foreground. It can be a little syrupy, with a root beer candy taste.

It's not the root beer you want for a root beer float (called a black cow where I live). Too sweet for that.

It is a good for a quick cold glass, but a second might be too much.

I used to buy this rootbeer every day at the super market around the corner from my house when I was a kid. They pulled it from the shelves due to slow sales and I was very happy to have it back! It's a lot cheaper than A&W is now and ever since Barq's got sold to coke, the quality of both brand has ceased to exist. Don't even get me started on mug, it doesn't even taste like rootbeer! Best rootbeers to buy, Sprecher, Dad's, Dang, in that order - down from that you end up running into that High Fructose corn syrup garbage. Buy Dad's!

This root beer taste so good. Doesn't taste anything like the Mug or A & W Root Beer. It's not thick and very enjoyable. Many of my friends like it as well so it's safe to say that it's worth trying. Enjoy.

Best root beer ever! Once in a while we can find it in one of our local stores, but not always. Just as easy to order it from Amazon. True old time yummy flavor.
