This review is from: Dad's Weird Dream (MP3 Download)
This album is a great continuation of Silver Sun's amazing discography (only half of which is presently available here for download) but if you REALLY want to see how deep the melodic 'rabbit hole' goes then you need to track down their earlier albums! They are using more progressive rhythms here, which is cool, but the melodies tend to lack their earlier ultra-catchy hooks.

For sheer ultra-melodic bliss check out their self-titled debut (unavailable for download yet) for starters (imagine "The Beach Boys" meets a VERY HEAVY amped up "Cheap Trick")! I have an iPod playlist with over 60 silver sun songs that are all 'Greatest Hits' quality songs (but only 3 are from this new LP). Seriously, I can't explain just how incredibly catchy their earlier songs are. Put it this way. Silver Sun (along with early LPs from the band 'Wildhearts') could have replaced so much of the lame grunge music that poisoned the airwaves in the 90s. THESE GUYS ARE THE SUCCESSORS OF THAT GREAT RADIO VIBE FROM THE 80s!
