One of the most affordable full-fledged HDTVs available, Daewoo's DSC34W60N offers convenient dual tuning (DTV and standard analog NTSC) and a host of audio features designed to take advantage of DTV and DVD surround-sound signals even if you don't have an AV receiver or a six-channel speaker setup. The set's built-in HDTV tuner performs line doubling and up-conversion of NTSC signals from cable boxes, VCRs, and camcorders. The 34-inch Pure Flat CRT screen is configured in a widescreen, 16:9 aspect ratio for optimal viewing of HDTV and anamorphic letterboxed DVDs. The 1,920 x 1080i set offers three display modes--full, zoom, normal--depending on how you'd prefer to view standard 4:3 aspect-ratio programming.
A three-speaker sound system for left-channel, center-channel, and right-channel audio saves space if you don't want separate front speakers, while speaker outputs make it easy to hook up an external subwoofer and left and right surround satellites. The DSC34W60N decodes Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround sound internally (both from DTV signals and from DVDs) and routes the audio to the appropriate channels. A five-band equalizer helps match the timbre of surround speakers to that of the set's internal speakers (or vice versa). The main left-right speakers are powered by 10 watts each; the center and surround channels get 8 watts, and the subwoofer gets 10 watts.
Connections consist of two RF inputs (DTV/NTSC), one RF output, four audio/video inputs for NTSC, two S-video inputs, one component-video input (YPBPR / RGBHV selectable), and one set of multichannel analog audio inputs (left, right, center, subwoofer, and left and right surround). A universal remote control comes with an onscreen display remote tutorial. The set measures 35.04 inches wide by 22.56 inches high and 22.05 inches deep and weighs 137 pounds. A one-year limited warranty covers parts and labor, and the CRT itself carries a two-year warranty.

This is a superb TV for HD and DVD viewing. The color and clarity when I watch ESPN(HD), INHD I and INHD II, plus a couple of the local HDTV channels are truly amazing. Additionally, the DVD widescreen playback on this TV provides wonderful contrast and color accuracy. The only annoying thing is the DTV button. It has to be manually pressed once to view the HD signal. Otherwise, the display is only 480 lines. In my humble opinion, this TV is better than the Philips and similar to Sony TV.
