2.0 out of 5 stars Great system?
I bought this DVD Home Theater system a few months ago. It's not too expensive but then again it's very heavy and large and not well designed at all. So If you want it to look good DO NOT BUY THIS.

Another problem I had with my DV-115 is that the DVD's I play always have a "break" in them. This may be due to the changing layers but I feel there are often more "breaks"...

Its a complete home theater system, in addition to doing DVD. 200W is PLENTY for my apartment, but what I really bought it for was its ability to read every single video I could want to use. I haven't tried it yet, but it claims to support DVD-R too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Starter System, January 5, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Daewoo DV115 DVD Home Theater System (Electronics)
I didn't want to pay too much for my first home theater system so I waited until I found a unit with everything I needed for my price. This was it. It has all more inputs and outputs than similar grade (and much higher priced) Sony and Panasonic systems. S-video, composite, component, Outputs for adding on a cd/dvd burner or cassette player; Plays VDC,CD, DVD, CDR CDRW MP3's. I am not a a real freak about sound, so I cannot get really picky here, but I think it sounds alot better than the stereo speakers on my TV. You can make the center channel louder than the other channels in dolby digital 5.1 so you can hear the dialog without blowing everyone out when the dinos started stomping. The subwoofer has a control knob so you can adjust quickly if it gets too loud.

4.0 out of 5 stars home theater for low price, October 19, 2001
This review is from: Daewoo DV115 DVD Home Theater System (Electronics)
Good price/quality. The satellite speakers could be in wooden boxes though. My manual came in German, but as far as I could understand it, I should have got a Euro/SCART cable to connect to a TV set, but there wasn't one.
Has a lot of different inputs and that was the Daewoo's major advantage over the competition. It was the main reason i bought it. A complete Dolby Digital reciver with all the necessary inputs and outputs, integrated with a DVD player !
5X30 W should be enough for a home cinema. Subwoofer has 50 W. Remote control is included, of course.

I bought this DVD Home Theater system a few months ago. It's not too expensive but then again it's very heavy and large and not well designed at all. So If you want it to look good DO NOT BUY THIS.

Another problem I had with my DV-115 is that the DVD's I play always have a "break" in them. This may be due to the changing layers but I feel there are often more "breaks" and at different moments in the disc.

Also at regular intervals my players starts to slow down. The picture and sound slow down, become slurred and that isn't a problem with the discs because changing discs doesn't help at all.

So WHEN it works it's a great (albeit quite large) system, but I can't rely on it to work properly...

I purchased this system in Jan. 2002. It is now Jun 2004. The DVD player no longer works. Also the system always had an annoying habit of producing loud "pops" during DVD playback along with visual stutters. I will not buy from Daewoo again.

2.0 out of 5 stars Software para convertir videos caseros, November 23, 2002
By
This review is from: Daewoo DV115 DVD Home Theater System (Electronics)
El equipo bueno, pero he tratado de convertir algunos videos caseros a los formatos que puede reproducir el DVD (SVCD, VCD, etc) con software comercial y no ha sido posible. Si alguien conoce el software que funcione para convertir los videos les agradezco.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good product and region free!!, July 24, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Daewoo DV115 DVD Home Theater System (Electronics)
Product is sold everywhere in the world, and the region is simple to change. Power = on, dvd-tray = open, now take the remote and press 89260 = region 0, 89261 = region 1, 89262 = region 2 etc. Now you can play any dvd from wherever you buy it.

Look for the spec's in the other reviews, nobody mentioned the region-free stuff, so I did

You'll find it a pleasure to own

4.0 out of 5 stars happy, but can't beat personal service, October 22, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Daewoo DV115 DVD Home Theater System (Electronics)
I bought this after looking it up online for more information. The output (audio and vidual) is awesome. The only downside to this is that if you do not have any audio equipment you might not know that you will need to purchase a switchbox to plug in your dvd and vcr in to, and this gets plugged in to an RF converter, which you plug your tv and cable in to.

But once you get that taken care of, your set.

5.0 out of 5 stars lack of information, September 4, 2001

doug veith (independence kansas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Daewoo DV115 DVD Home Theater System (Electronics)
I would be more likely to buy this if I had some more information on it like how many watts per channel it is and if it has a tuner and it it plays cds that are burnt from a computer so I do not understand how anyone can buy this stereo if they do not really know what they are getting.
