Best DVD player i've owned,
By
This review is from: Daewoo DVG-9200N Progressive Scan DVD Player (Electronics)
I've owned half a dozen DVD players in my lifetime. My favorite brand is Philips. Most of their DVD players are very well made and have few problems. I'm normally one to believe that unless you go with a $200 unit you won't be without some sort of bugs.
I picked this up and couldn't believe the price. Such a decent looking DVD player for this cheap? I didn't know much about Daewoo and I certainly didn't think DAEWOO equaled quality. How good could this cheap of player be anyway? I've used it for 6 months straight now and it's near perfect. I've encountered, in all honesty, ZERO problems AT ALL. My plan was to temporarily use this player until my "GOOD" player got returned by my friend, but when I hooked the old one up I was so disappointed with the old players picture quality that I hooked this one up. BTW I should point out that my old player I bought for $150 a year before. I also will point out that I use this player with very high quality cables. The cables were used on my old player and actually cost more than this player itself! I currently have it hooked up via component cables to a 43" Grand Wega LCD projection television. Would you believe that a $45-$50 DVD player is my DVD player for choice for a TV that cost over $2000? Yes, it's true. Ok, so no problems, but I do have some complaints. I can't complain really. How can you expect the high quality parts for just $50 or so? You can't! Since the unit is very thin the tray is VERY flimsy. Be careful. Don't let children or senior citizens use the tray as a cup holder or you're be sorry. The DVD player itself looks nice. The remote is one of the ugliest remotes i've seen. It would be perfectly fine if it wasn't made out of yellowish brown plastic for the front. The nicest thing about this player is that if it dies, I just walk back into the store and buy another one, it's that cheap to replace. Why bother with getting it fixed if it's out of warranty?

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Daewoo DVG-9200N Progressive Scan DVD Player (Electronics)
I bought this for my mother in law in Brazil. Her city uses 120v, so no issue about power. Her TV is also mono, and no trouble in the menus to make the DVD player do Mono (if you want). The region free hack worked great. Just open the tray, press 1,3,5,7,0 (slowly) on the remote, and you have a region free DVD player. It withstood the trip in my suitcase fine, and I find it stylish and easy to use. I can't recommend it more. Hope you enjoy yours.
