Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Enjoy your entire DVD and VHS table library in one component and easily record your favorite TV programming or video camcorder footage directly to DVD disc with the progressive scan Daewoo DVRS04M combo DVD recorder/VCR. You can record content onto DVD+R/RW discs, and the DVRS04M is compatible with DVD movie, CD audio, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD-R/RW, (S)VCD disc playback as well as MP3 audio and JPEG image files. It has an 8-event/1-month timer that works with both the DVD recorder and VCR. This unit also includes a Firewire port (also known as IEEE1394 or i.Link) for direct connection to a digital video camcorder for dubbing your home movies. And you can copy VHS tapes to DVD or DVDs to VHS tape (as long as they're not copy protected) with easy one-touch recording. You can record from 1 to 6 hours of content to a DVD (the latter in SLP mode).

The DVG5000N provides a component video output for optimal progressive scan viewing on your high-definition television, as well as composite A/V and S-Video connections. Playback features include multi-angle viewing, 2/4/8/16/32x forward/reverse, and 2x subtitle display. It offers internal Dolby Digital and DTS decoding and a digital coaxial audio output, enabling you to connect to your home theater system to produce chilling, immersive 5.1-channel surround sound. It also provides 3D virtual surround sound for playback through two stereo channels.

Tech Talk
Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

What's in the Box
Combo DVD recorder/VCR, remote control (with batteries), video cable, audio cable, RF cable, power cord, printed operating instructions

4.0 out of 5 stars works well, instructions a bit difficult, October 21, 2007
This review is from: Daewoo DVRS04M DVD and VCR Recorder (Electronics)
the product works well, no complaints, but the format-the operation of the recorder- is a bit difficult to follow using the instructions. once used to it, it gives very satisfactory results.

1.0 out of 5 stars DVRS04 Review, August 28, 2007

This review is from: Daewoo DVRS04M DVD and VCR Recorder (Electronics)
I bought the machine a couple of years ago. It made an alternative video source for my PIP TV. Plus it promised to easily convert VHS tapes to DVD. I failed in my efforts.

Now, I tried to line in from a camcorder to convert old 8 tape to a DVD. Failed that also. It seemed like it froze after I apparently finished recording. I did a reset and achieved a menu that I made some setting changes on.

Next day, I was going to redo but have failed this time to achieve a TV picture although the machine does output the sounds to my TV [just no picture].

I am considered savvy by my friends and have exactly followed the users manual. On the DAEWOO web site, they do not have a FAQ section nor additional help. This is too much hassle. Do not buy.

If something happens to change my mind, I will reappear in this section.
