Book Description

Peggy and her husband Jack left the U.S. and moved to Africa to protect the animals. The poachers would get back at them by kidnapping their son. They abandoned him in the forest when they found out that his back and leg were deformed. Dafidi was raised by gorillas. He saw how gentle they were. He played, danced, jumped, and climbed, with the baby gorillas. He was later spotted by a tourist on safari. He was reunited with his parents who refused to be scared away. Dafidi was forced to return to Kansas. He struggled to adapt to his new home and new environment. He worked hard to overcome disability and pain to take complete control of his body. He defied gravity and the laws of energy. The more he danced and floated, the more energy he seemed to have. His fancy footwork became a trademark. Tears were replaced by cheers, and he became champion of the world! This is a story of hope over despair, and triumph over trauma.

5.0 out of 5 stars A WONDERFUL AND HEARTWARMING STORY January 25, 2012
By Debbie
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Once I received this book, I could not put it down. The story definitely tugged at my heartstrings. There is a lesson to be learned for everyone, a must for all moms, dads, and teachers to read to their children starting at a very young age. Nobody is perfect as God has created each and every one of us in his own unique way. We are not flawless. No person (or animal) should be pushed aside because they have a special need. Treating those with any kind of disability in a different way, and considering them as second class.... is just simply cruel. This book is amazing in showing all of us that we are equal in every way there is, including the color of a persons skin, or the religion that someone chooses to worship. Prejudice is unacceptable as we are a world of distinct individuals and love only comes only from the heart. This book can inspire everyone to be a better person and I would highly recommend it for all ages.
