A Wonderful Read,
By Rufus T. Firefly (Easton, PA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dafka: A Memoir (Paperback)
"DAFKA" The word has many meanings in Hebrew. It refers to the period when the tribes of Moses were at their lowest and received manna from heaven. Classically it means "between thine eyes". Contemporaneously, it means "in spite of...". And in modern Hebrew slang it means "in your face!".
This book encompasses all the meanings of the word Dafka; indeed the Author's life encompasses all the meanings of "Dafka". I read this book in one sitting. Yes, I could not put it down! The writing was a bit tough to get thru - the author wrote as she thought with little attention to the niceties of English grammar. But who cares, her story was compelling, captivating and inspirational. I recommend this book to all students of the Holocaust and the Human Condition
