Grade 5-8-- Dagmar Schultz has just turned 13 and won official permission from her father to go out on dates--with a few restrictions. There are only two obstacles to her new social life--she doesn't have a boyfriend, and she does have a straight-laced, interfering, fibbing guardian angel, or SG (spiritual guide) as she prefers to be known. The SG, Aunt Edna, is Dagmar's great-great- aunt who passed over to another level long before Dagmar was born. Instead of aiding in Dagmar's quest for a date, she is always on hand, but invisible, to insure that chaos instead of romance reigns. The book is written, as are the others about Dagmar, in a chatty, friendly style--a cross between recounting adventures to a best friend and musing aloud. Dagmar's hilarious and frustrating ventures into the new world of being a teenager at long last and finding her very first boyfriend are sure to be a hit with preteens. --Nancy P.
