I'm also impressed by this bike, especially for $399. I've had a lot of bikes in the last 30 years, this one (#3 in the fleet at the moment) is a nice one. For quick trips to stores in the neighborhood, I often just jump on this one (It's more popular with me, at least, than my BMW X3 suv, that tells you something about the bike!). Get yourself one, you won't be sorry.

August 7, 2014 Update: After having this one a week, decided to order another one! so I can easily carry two folded up in the back of the car, pop them out, and take off on a bike ride with a friend, my daughter, etc. So my earlier comment "get yourself one"...scratch that! get yourself Two!

My wife and I bought two of them. They fit in the trunk of my mid-size sedan easily. The 7 gears are more than enough to navigate the hills of the city we live in. Lastly, they shipped quick and arrived undamaged.

Great strong brakes. Folds easily and into a small package. Shifts gears easily and reliably. Light weight. 7 gears plenty for this kind of bicycle. Looks good too with the color scheme on the frame. Great that the wheels can click together when folding so it stays folded. I have used the bicycle 4 times in Manhattan so far and it has been a pleasure to use all the bike paths and circle around Central Park. I wish the seat post were an inch longer. I am 6 feet 0".

We bought this bike for use at the ocean and everyone in our family loves riding it. I have children that range from 4'8" to 6'1 and it works for everyone. It takes less than a minute to fold up, fits conveniently in a closet or back of the car. One of my smaller kids prefers this bike over her regular bike cause she says it is easier to shift the gears and it is very light weight. It's very comfortable to ride and the smaller tires don't seem to affect it's performance at all. Our family rides daily and we own all high end bike, and we like this Dahon enough that we are planning to buy another one.

I would say this was a bad purchase. Out of the box it's a great bike. Problem is with the quality of the build. When I was riding it only once a week I had no problems. Now I ride it almost daily, about 5 miles total round trip and it's falling apart. I don't think I'm abusing it and I weigh 175lbs at 6' tall. The rear wheel spokes have broken 3x so far. I finally had to replace the wheel and spokes likely because of poor build. The gear surfaces are getting worn down way too fast. Even after a tune with hard pedaling I pop out of gear. Front hub started coming loose during a ride and all it needed was tightening. The handle stem started coming loose as well and needed tightening down. Some of these are minor but for $400+ and how simple the bike is, the number of years in production perhaps I expected a little more. I should have gotten a Brompton to begin with. I understand why the prices are that much higher.
Again, infrequent riders should have no problem. My problems started after riding it more frequently. The bike is 6 months old and I don't store it outside.

I have had this for over a month now. It rides well. It is easy to break down and set up. My initial breakdown time was 50 seconds which has improved to 30. The set up time is about 50 seconds. The gear shift works well but I suspect that it does not have as much change given the small tires as would, say, a 27 inch bike. The bike folds quite small and I can put it into the luggage rack on the train. No reservation required for this on Amtrak. The bike came almost completely assembled with only the pedals needing to be put on. I have had only two very minor issues. One was a reflector on one of the pedals slid out of its socket (I put back in) and on going over a bump, I lost a loose rear reflector that is on the seat post. (I should have tightened it beforehand). For short commutes I highly recommend this bike.

Some people are just down right oblivious....the last review by Trimboli mentions that he actually got extra goodies with the bike and he sent it back!!! What a $#!@/$&!!!

Anyway, this bike is down right amazing for its price....it was originaly $600 and now its marked down to $400.

The ride and quality of this bike blew me away.....Absolute STEEL!!!!!

Note that my low score is due to the fact that no where in the description does it say you MUST take the bike to a technician to validate the warranty, perhaps a small thing but I find it annoying. Looks like a nice little bike, can't wait to ride it

Bike wasn't too difficult to assemble. The seat is a little hard but nothing too unusual. Nothing a padded seat cover can't fix. It has V brakes which are harder to adjust. But all in all the bike rides fine, and I love the convenience of a folding bike.
