Family oriented feel good giant robot anime, October 13, 2005
This review is from: Dai-Guard - Perfect Collection (DVD)
Dai-guard has it all. it is very family oriented with giant robot. What more can you ask for. Unlike other giant robot or anime in general, there are no big breasted women or bloody scenes where people getting their body blown up.
Instead it keeps it all real and shows the aftermath of destruction and how fragile we all are. And the character development is extremly well with top notch animation (given it was aired on TV)
I was hooked to finish the series really quick. The ending is awesome. And from a sci-fi geek point of view, this series is even better. It actually explains why only Japan gets all the big bad monster rather than anywhere else. Watch and find out!

finaly, taking the drama out of the giant robots, May 16, 2005
This review is from: Dai-Guard - Perfect Collection (DVD)
dont be swayed by the three star and under reviews given to this underappreciated gem.to tell u the truth i have not laughed this much durring an anime in a while( and i watch a lot of anime.)what truely sets this one appart is the undenieably lively and easy to get humor, sure it may get a bit dry but it is rare. futher more the giant robot battles sem to be a mix of old school mech design with new school animation techniques and directon. characters are not over the top like some of the other show out there and that is defiinitely a plus...............enjoy!

Space Boy's heart, August 19, 2005
This review is from: Dai-Guard - Perfect Collection (DVD)
I'm pretty much guaranteed to love any big robot show, but Dai-Guard still suprised me with its quality. I bought this collection expecting something way over the top like Getter Robo, but instead I found myself getting caught up in a show with incredibly likeable characters, great animation, and a lot of heart. The show may be called Dai-Guard, but the show focuses just as much on the people and politics behind the battles.
Fear not, shoujo drama haters: Dai-Guard is free from overwraught tension. It also lacks the seriousness of stuff like Gundam. It knows it's a big robot show, and often times pokes fun at itself for being one, but between all the excellent robot action is a lot of great character scenes that you usually don't get otherwise. That human touch is what makes Dai-Guard special. The entire 26 episode arc had me hooked from start to finish.
Highly recommend for robot junkies who want guilt-free action and laughs, and generally recommended for anyone else who typically doesn't watch this kind of stuff but wants something different in their anime diet. For the price, you really can't go wrong with picking up Dai-Guard Complete Collection.
